Yes, they would be happy to have anyone, regardless of experience. You can be paired up with someone who does have experience. Or you can be part of a feeding/watering team that puts out feeding/watering stations every couple of blocks. They have the food/water supplies... just take or rent a vehicle that can hold lots of supplies, such as a truck, minivan, SUV, etc.
They also need people to drive the rescued animals every evening from New Orleans to the shelter where they will be housed. You don't need any experience for that.
Or you could help with supplies (transporting food/water to the dispatch location from the storage area every morning), or with fielding phone calls for rescues, or with data entry after the rescuers turn in their lists every evening, etc.
So YES, they need you!! Just go... and be willing to do whatever you can to help, even if it's nothing like what you thought you'd be doing. You won't regret it.
Thanks to you all for the responses.
I have a pet of my own and other responsibilities here. But I can't stand the thought of those animals down there still needing help. It might work out for me to go, not sure yet.
Thanks again for the info.
