Nazism became known as "right wing" among Stalinists, due to not being as far left as communism. But, it is a socialist idealogy, far to the left of political conservatives in modern-day America.

Actually it is because it was the competition for the Left.They were fighting for the same turf and thus hated each other more passionately than they hated their ideological enemies.
