If the source doesn't need excerpts used, why not just copy and paste the whole thing then.

It eliminates the possibility you or others are cherry picking points that are only favorable to your view. Most folks won't click thru to see the whole article anyway.

  1. Maybe I'm just an old dog.  Back when I started using the Internet in the 80's etiquette demanded that posts be kept short and refer to all originals.  Perhaps things have changed, after all disk space is much cheaper now.

  2. I, personally, prefer shorter posts.  Usually the formatting of a cut and paste is inferior and difficult to read.

  3. I always go to the original.  You never know for sure what has been done to the copy.  Maybe FR is different than the more free for all sites in this regard.
Is there a FR thread which describes an FR policy on this?

Im an old dog too.

Nothing personal intended re: cherry picking but a lot of folks don't read much beyond the posted portion of the thread and aren't as diligent as you or I may be to click thru.

Yup, disk drive space is real cheap compared to the olden days.

I also believe in Trust But Verify too.

I cut and paste all the time and do my cleanup before hitting the Post button ,, always have.

No , there is no FR policy except the excerpt and no post lists. You can get to them on the bottom of my profile page.
