They (the Republicans) do need to get off the big government kool aid but I don't think they are capable of learning from defeat. Tricky spot to be in.

This Rove "scandal" must surely be bigger than stealing national security documents from the national archives, giving top secret nuclear technology to the Chinese in return for several grocery bags full of cash, or forcible rape. After all, the media are drooling over this "scandal" but showed no interest in the others, so this one must be much bigger.

The eliutes are probably going to scuttle a SCOTUS nominee who the red-staters have reason to believe will nuutrealize, if not overturn, Roe v Wade. The red-staers won't forget or forgive that.

I agree with that.

I remember the mature FR fondly, when we used to plot against our enemies.

I will be quick to admit that I have made some immature and dumba$$ posts / responses in the past.

That does not compare to the stuff I am seeing now.

Truly sad.

You'll show 'em!

Every time you see President Hillary Clintons big ass going up the steps of Air Force One, you just yell at the TV: "Take that, George W. Bush, you RINO!

If Bush is broiught doen, Rush will share in the blame.

Rush is just a troll.

I wish we could ZOT him, the big dope!

Why can't the real world be like FR?

Why why why???

P.S.: Normally, as an FR courtesy, I correct mis-spellings in quoted "you said" stuff (this makes FR more distingue, I like to think); HOWEVER, since you were mean to Rush, I have chosen to demonstrate the fallacy of your reasoning by the exhibition of your haste.

I hope this has been a lesson to you.

RAMONES!!!

Quidnunc, your characterization of red-staters as supporters of the Miers nomination due to her personal stance on abortion isn't accurate. Some support her, some don't.

The majority of conservatives on this board who oppose her nomination are opposing it because they don't believe she's an originalist.

Overturning Roe requires an originalist, anti-activist judicial mindset. Red-staters have been groaning like the undead for weeks about their distrust of the nomination because they think she might not be conservative enough, not supporting her due to her personal beliefs!

John Fund source. Not a unbiased source. Texas lottery scandal. Ben Barnes. Bush national guard. Corsi. So far garbage.

Well, if Libby and Rove were stupid enough to obstruct justice in front of a grand jury, then they deserve to go. While I am certainly not accepting any of this article as truth now, but rather waiting for some facts emerge, I'm not going to proclaim the end of the world if Rove resigns. It hurts us (at least in the short term) and isn't preferable, but if it happens some other pressing problems need to be addressed in the shakeup.

If they are indicted, maybe it will finally wake up the WH staff and even the President that 'New Tone' notwithstanding, sometimes they have to take up a fight, they should have done more housecleaning of holdovers, and they need to actually wage a real PR battle. Lots of dundering the last 6 months, fronted by the oh so inspiring face of confidence, Scott McClellen. Some of this Miers angst is fired by an increasingly lack in confidence that an administration that has for months had its tail handed to them by the media (in shaping public opinion) can still rise up and counter that media. Despite the many, many good things the administration had done and the difficult poltical climate, the charge of 'amateurs' has rang true in some ways. And some of that blame goes to Rove, he hasn't been the perfect strategist.

Hopefully these rumors are BS, but this administration is in need of some significant changes. And frankly I'm increasingly suspecting that Andy Card may be a big part of the problem.

Yeah, I'm venting, but the WH is overdue to learn from some of their mistakes and make corrections. Happens to the best of us, they aren't exempt.

And now the Democrats are going to try to paint Miers (and maybe Bush) as corrupt over her tenure as head of the Texas lottery.

Fund has an article just up on the WSJ Opinion Journal site.

And Brownback and Graham say they will block Miers in the judiciary cvommittee if the White hlouse doesn't release documints for which Bush is claiming executive privilege.

It may be no worse but thats really not the question.

If one crime is not prosecuted [Berger or Hillarys most recent campaing financing brush with the law] and the other [Bush team shenanigans] is fully prosecuted with the entire media behind it THAT my friend is a hell of a difference.

I have said it billions and billions of times, why does this White House refuse to fight?

Where is the Texas smashmouth?

Why havent they already crushed Ronnie Earle?

The Bush should control Texas like LBJ did.

I just cant fathom it.

Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa
