When you think of it, Washington has always leaked like a sieve. They start prosecuting people for leaking information then the whole town is going to go down. It's akin to opening Pandora's Box... do the dems really want to go down that road? They may think they do, but, if they stop to think -- even Chris Matthews who's thinking ability I truly doubt -- they don't want to take this road.

Clinton should have been indicted over the pardons. So very foolish to let him get away with it. Plus, they should have put Sandy Berger on trial. Republicans are gentlemen, and Dems are thugs. Thank you, House of Rep. for impeaching clinton.

Yes, but Repub need to fight on the same level as Demonrats or loose to them and their cohorts in the MSM. Clintoon should have been impeached on Filegate, Chinagate, manygates, not that insignificant lying under oath. To this day Demonrats will tell you the Repubs impeached Clintoon because he had sex in the Oval office - and this is now payback.

'When you have people raise money for you - you know everything about them. I still believe it was Hillary who told Miller about Valerie - and that's why Miller now says that she cannot remember who told her .. and why she was willing to sit in jail until Fitz agreed not to ask her about any source other than Libby. I love that condition - you can't me about any other source except Liddy - which means that she doesn't have to expose it was Hillary.'

Now during THIS hearing, I'm of a mind that Fitz is trying to get Judy to reveal that source.

Negative. The government's ccase to compel testimny from NYT and Miller in the money laundering disclosure case is presently pending in a Federal Appeals Court. Look it up.

It is.

There was, when Judy got out of jail, suggestion that she finally got committment from Fitzgerald that he would not question her about this other issue. Said issue "assumed" to be that earlier case.

Maybe he was hoping to get some name out of her that he was hoping was the same source as the FBI leak?

Well hell I don't know but I know that the NY Times, via two of their reporters, warned an Islamic "charity" of an impending raid. Judith Miller was one of those reporters. Her newspaper backed her up.

Why?

Why did Joe Wilson go to Niger then come back and lie?

There's blatent treason going on here and Wilson's boohooing for an investigation gave the administration a chance to go inside and try and find out who's behind it.

And what countries.

That's the one I'm talking about. It's a separate case. It's still pending. Fitz has no reason to attach testimony from THAT case to the Plame case.

"This thing is NOT about going after Rove and Libby."

The last report I saw said Miller cleared those in the Bush administration of all wrongdoing.

From your description, it sounds like the NYT, et al, has thrown in with Kofi Annan.

Actually, the NY Times article does NOT say that anyone, including Rove and Libby, has received a "target letter" before testifying before the Grand Jury. And the regulations on such letters, posted earlier in this thread, makes it clear that such a letter should have been sent to anyone who was a "putative defendant."

So, for the absence of that one critical element, I'd take this whole article as a cotton-candy fluff with no real substance, until proven otherwise.

I know it's the one you're talking about. It's under federal appeal.

But I don't know if I'd go willy-nilly saying that the one case is not connected to Plame.

Wish I could tell you how, wish I could connect the dots.

But there's espionage and treason amok here.

A forged bill of sale for yellowcake uranium turns up in Italy somewhere. So very obvious a forgery, signed by former Niger officials from ten years back.

Now if Saddam really purchased yellowcake from Niger, which I don't think he did because his time ran out, but if he did, does anyone really think there would be some sort of bill of sale? Like I get a bill of sale from my guy who delivers the propane on a monthly basis? Oh there's be some sort of document somewhere, encrypted somehow, buried under three or four shell corporations. That forgery was really lame. An attempt to cast doubt over any REAL documentation or other proof that Iraq bought yellowcake.

France is in charge of Niger's yellowcake shipments though I'm not sure how or why. France, ahem, assured Wilson that Iraq did not buy yellowcake from Niger.

We've got a major newspaper warning about raids to fake Islamic charities. We got weird forgeries popping up all over the planet. We got the CIA running this little Joe Wilson operation at exactly the worst time when the President was making a case for war.

A whole bunch of people are involved in this, a whole bunch of people sold their soul.

It's treason and it still goes on.

I wouldn't assume there's no connection. In some insidious and cancerous manner the tentacles all connect.

Oh, and since I'm a Blogger of some repute, insert wink here, I tend to get a lot of email. Well the Internet being the Internet and email being Gmail or Hotmail or whatever, such has to be taken with big grains of salt.

But I got an email that I think was real. You get an instinct for these types of things.

There's some really, really bad stuff out there about this Wilson guy.

He has a really bad problem with the ladies. Really bad. The guy is a sleeze bucket, you can tell by looking at him for God's sake.

a thought to offer based on your ping to me and others on thread #174 by fishtalk.
"The French supposedly controlled the distribution of yellowcake in Niger. Iraq was supposedly trying to buy some. The French were involved in this, don't let anybody tell you different."

I have made statements in the past to some post on the Wilson issue, that a book written back in 1987 by Dan Mckinnon titled: BULLSEYE IRAQ a Berkely publication, ISBN 0-425-11259-4, a documentary about the Israeli air strikes against the Iraqi Osiris nuclear plant on the eastern side of the Tigris river from Salmon Pak, clearly made references to tonnages of yellowcake Saddam had procured via. blackmail and secret deals (oil futures to individuals, etc.), and amoung those countries sited where Niger. I wonder how many folk are aware that through Portugal he attained some 100 tons of yellowcake alone.

If I may. In chapter 6 titled The French Connection on page 68-69, one reads.....
The Iraqis assured the Brazillians 160,000 barrels of oil a day for 13 years as their part of the deal.
Three was a powerful effort by the Iraqis to hoard all the uranium they could get their hands on. Besides the highly enriched supply from France and this new batch from Brazil, Iraq bought 138 tons of "yellowcake" or unranium oxide, from Portugal in 1980, after threatening to shut off their oil supply, and 100 tons from Niger.

The book is loaded with stuff he pulled off. So why is it so hard to believe those 500 tons plus of yellowcack we found when we invaded stored at Al-Tuwaitha, heaven knows how much elsehere in the country so hard to imagine some of it came from Niger after the no fly zones and oil for food programs came into effect.

I cannot help but feel this whole smokescreen is to divert what our intellegience services knew for many years about Saddam's quest for obtaining yellowcake from any source he could find. In other words what's the beef. GWB did not lie. Everyone knew for years of all his clandestined activities with the French, Germans, Italians, Russians etc., to obtain the equipment and know how to build a bomb. He had every plan to restore his nuclear programs once he was freed from the imposed sanctions. The demos and L/MSM just continue to cloud the issues, to make GWB look bad in my opinion.

"Mr. Rove and Mr. Libby have been advised that they may be in serious legal jeopardy, the lawyers said, but only this week has Mr. Fitzgerald begun to narrow the possible charges. The prosecutor has said he will not make up his mind about any charges until next week, government officials say. "

I was referring to this.

" It is still not publicly known who first told the columnist Robert D. Novak the identity of the C.I.A. officer, Valerie Wilson. Mr. Novak identified her in a column on July 14, 2003, using her maiden name, Valerie Plame. Mr. Fitzgerald knows the identity of this source, a person who is not believed to work at the White House, the lawyers said."
