Dietrich Snell was no "staffer" on the 9/11 Commission. He was Senior Counsel and a team leader.

Let me see if I understand this. You pick a guy who was personally involved in terrorist investigations to be your Senior Counsel. There are all kinds of competent lawyers in Washington, even Republican ones, who have been counsel to committees. Does it not make sense not to pick one who has a personal interest in terrorist investigations? Or am I merely deluding myself into thinking that the Committee knew what it was doing?
