She may have overreacted, but on the other hand the church may have a reputation in the neighborhood, based on prior behavior. Perhaps when they arrive to find children playing in the yard, they have been known to start in with opposite-of-what-your-parents-taught-you anti-Halloween preaching. If I heard from another parent that that had happened, and then the same outfit starts leaving tracts on my porch, I'd be more annoyed than I would be at some generic Kerry/Edwards flyer.

I think you may one to something. They may be a cult like church that masquerades as a Christian church, and known to harass.
Just because a church labels itself as a Christian doesn't mean they aren't really just another cult with a freakish and controlling preacher. There are plenty like that around where I leave in Texas.

Un-asked-for literature (concerning steam-cleaning my carpets, car washes, aluminum siding, political candidates, and religious views) is part of what I grimace and put up with as the price of living in a society where people feel free to communicate. Even if it's aggravatin' as hades-with-a-fire-sale.
Like I said, if I finally reach my saturation point I will get my property posted. As of now, it's just more cellulose for my compost pile.
