IIRC, an age-old tradition considered burials on the mountaintops as especially honorable.
The airman is from 1942 (probably), and even THEY knew that clouds contain rocks, generally large rocks known as mountains.
Sad case of controlled flight into terrain (CFIT) from many years ago.
