AP (or may Reuters) made a big deal about this two weeks ago. No one paid attention then, so they're trying again, this time louder.

Ventura County PING, please!
""Unless President Bush is coming to California to hand over a check from the federal government to help us with the financial challenges we face, the visit seems ill timed," said Karen Hanretty, a spokeswoman for the state Republican Party."
I am floored. I can't believe a member of the Republican party said something like this!!! What now CA Republicans are as much beggars as Democrats???
Am I missing something here?

DFU on the scene | 8-29-05 | dfuUnder absolutely oppressive Southern California Inland Empire August heat, the good guys showed up in force to support the President and the troops.
There were a handful of FReepers there that I recognized including bittdrvr, Blurblogger, Joy Angela, Aloha Ronnie, and RonDog. Darn, come on, who am I forgetting?
There had to be perhaps 300 there on our side, and it was refreshing to outnumber the airheads on the other side...

.......cuz we're special ping! :)
The Governor is very busy with a special election date just 20 days away (and early voting already ongoing) with tens of millions in union advertising lies hammering him round-the-clock and have been for months.
Bush hates California. He is out here 1. to try and prop up his support with the base by riding on Reagan's legacy and 2. gimme, gimme, gimme your cash at a fundraiser. At least Clinton only did the 2nd one.
In August, Bush cancelled his visit to Balboa Naval Hospital where many of our wounded war heroes are recovering. I guess he couldn't squeeze in a make-up trip between the photo-op and fundraiser.
We don't want him out here; there's real work do be done! He can come back when he is here to do BUSINESS in California and gets serious about protecting our border, expanding refining capacity, fires his lame nut job tax reform panel, moves on meaningful tax reform and SLASHES the federal budget.
Bush to visit Reagan LibraryBy staff reports
October 17, 2005President Bush is scheduled to attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library's Air Force One Pavilion in Simi Valley Friday.
Invited by officials at the library, President Bush and his wife plan to attend the 11 a.m. ceremony and a 1 p.m. lunch, according to the White House.
The 87,000-square-foot pavilion features the plane that President Ronald Reagan used throughout his years in office. The aircraft was also used by six other presidents, including the current president, who was the last one to fly in the Boeing 707 in 2001.
A total of 600 people are expected to attend the ceremony.
President Bush will arrive in California on Thursday to speak at a Los Angeles fund-raising event that night for the Republican National Committee.
The pavilion opens to the public on Monday.
