Campaigning alongside Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger on Tuesday, state Sen. Tom McClintock paused and stated the obvious: "Now, you all know I ran against this governor in the recall." The legislator from Thousand Oaks could once have been a political liability, but the governor has brought his more conservative and frequently contrarian Republican colleague into the tent. On Tuesday, during an appearance here to promote the Nov. 8 special election, the governor called the senator a "terrific, terrific partner of mine."

Even if he used to be irrelevant to some, anyway...;-)
ROTFLMAO
Tom McClintock has always -- without exception -- polled more favorably statewide than liberal Arnold. The only liability here is for Tom to be associated with Arnold. Leave it to the leftists at the LATimes to get it wrong by 180 degrees.
Maybe McClintock could slide his "13 percent solution" under Ahnold's office door.
Yea sure, that's why Arnold LOST to Tom in the governor's recall election. Oh yeah, thats right Arnold WON.
Ohforpetessake Do we have to go over that discussion again?
The two of them were about tied in the polls until the very end when the voters made a STRATEGIC decision to vote for Arnold because they THOUGHT only he could win. But yes, Tom was a head of Arnold in "approval" and "thinks like I do" in most major polls right up until election day.
I'm sorry if that's too complicated for you to understand, but its true.
McClintock Ping List -- Please freepmail me if anyone wants on or off this list
I'm not from CA, so I have no dog in this hunt, but you ARE delisional if you REALLY believe what you just posted. I like Tom but no way was he going to win.
BTT!!!!!
Well I live here and have most of my life. I work in state politics for a living. I have managed statewide campaigns. I know what I am talking about.
If Bustamante had not been in the race, Schwarzenegger could not have won. The only reason people voted for him was because they thought he had the best chance with his celebrity name ID. Had there been no Democrat in the race (as was the original plan by the Dem party bosses). It would have been a 3-way race between McClintock, Issa and Simon. Arnold would have been creamed.
Once Bustamante jumped in, people held their noses in droves and voted for Arnold, at the very, very end.
It was probably the most strange and complicated election in American history. Your are delusional if you think you can sit in an armchair in another state and make broad proclamations based on the what you read in the news.
Ooh! Ooh! Ooh! Pick me! Pick me! I know the answer to this one!
ElkGrove Dan is in a position to know exactly what he's talking about. He gave you the facts.
You can take it to the bank.
Check out packrat35. He's busy digging himself a very deep hole taking issue with ElkGroveDan's comments re Arnold v. McClintock. Pretty entertaining.
The Memphis Marvel is indeed digging furiously.

RE: "Yes, Yes, Yes, No, No, No, No, No"

When I'm awake, I support Arnold. But in my dreams I'm supporting Governer McClintock...
