Minutemen Urge Declaration of State of Emergency

Article IV, Section 4 of the United States Constitution

"The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government,
and shall protect each of them against Invasion and against domestic Violence."

TOMBSTONE, AZ (October 18, 2005) – Chris Simcox, president of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps (“MCDC”), today urged Congress and the Bush administration to follow their Constitutional oaths to protect the country from foreign invasion and assault by securing our porous borders immediately.

Simcox issued the following statement on the occasion of the Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on immigration today:

“For four long years after the terror attacks of September 11, 2001, President Bush and Congress have neglected to take serious measures to secure America’s borders from infiltration by terrorists, violent criminals, smugglers and traffickers in human misery. The bills being discussed today are concerned with appeasing every possible interest other than the security of this sovereign nation. The American people have woken up to the crisis on our borders—but it seems that Washington has not.

“Every year, millions of illegal aliens cross our borders—only a fraction of who are identified or apprehended. God only knows whether any terrorists carrying biological, chemical or nuclear agents have snuck into our country, because the federal government surely does not.

“Because of the failure of the federal government to secure the borders, governors of states that share their borders with Mexico have taken extraordinary measures to secure their citizens from the dangers posed by unlawful border crossers.

“The Minuteman Civil Defense Corps has recruited over 4,200 citizen volunteers to participate in its border watch patrols this month in states along both the northern and southern borders. These citizens are standing in the breach while Congress and the President play politics.

“A state of emergency needs to be declared on the borders and the National Guard deployed in sufficient numbers to stop the flood of illegal border crossings. To do anything less is to continue tempting fate with the lives of American citizens.”

MCDC is conducting a month-long border watch program this October called “Secure Our Borders.” More than four thousand trained Minuteman volunteers will participate in non-confrontational border watch efforts on America's northern and southern borders. Minutemen act as extra eyes and ears for the Border Patrol and will report directly to authorities any sightings of border crossings at other than legal ports of entry.

Beware the propaganda about these Americans - they are not Vigilantes, they are American Citizens quietly going about doing what our government is not doing and the Border Patrol welcomes their help. Without borders, America is no longer a Sovereign Nation.

The Minutemen are true American Patriots!

They have my total support as will any politician who takes a real tough stand on this issue and not just give lip service.

The Minutemen will be rounded up and jailed before any action is taken on the "suspected" illegal immigrants.

The government is more concerned about citizens trying to defend themselves than preserving the nation.

I don't agree about the issue of 'helping Mexicans to overthrown their government' as an aspect to border security and involvement of the Minutemen.

HOWEVER, that aside, I do support what the Minutemen Project and volunteers are doing (and always have).

But, what does this say about all the illegal aliens who originate in other countries? Many use the U.S./Mexican border (as also the northern one with Canada) to illegally immigrate so, it just can't be the case that to solve our problem of abundant illegal aliens here, we have to work to overthrow governments worldwide, given that so many illegal aliens in the U.S. came from (and continue to come from) Brazil, China, Russia, Europe...heck, all over the world. Brazil, Central and South America and China, however, are the leading producers of illegal aliens to the U.S., from what I've read. Mexico looks more and more like the highway (many FROM there, yes, I'd be a fool to suggest they werent' given their abundant presence in the U.S. today), but my point being that the BORDER security is the big issue and that we have to demonstratively now deport and order departions for attempting returns.

I agree, emotionally...but, what do you think of this?

'US SECURITY CHIEF STRIVES TO EXPEL ALL ILLEGAL ALIENS'

My first thought was, "great, hooray," and THEN I thought, "show me."

Many of us share lack of faith in most to do anything about the problem, given that they haven't for so long now, and thus, allowed the problem to exist as it does today, if not enabled it.

Interesting...I typed the title of the article to include the expression, "Illegal Aliens" and I now see it is published to read, "Illegal Immigrants."

The media and politicians just cannot tell the truth despite themselves. They just cannot be straight about issues, and this one, particularly.

Nothing terribly WRONG with vigilantism. The very word itself comes from "vigilant," watchful.
It happens when the government fails to do its job or where there simply is no government.
In the case of the Mexican border, the administration and Congress, all parties, are mute. They simply won't do anything because they have absolutely no backbone.

They don't have any backbone because they are elected by voters who really don't want control at the borders. They SAY that they do, but they lie.

1. If voters REALLY wanted to expel the illegals, they would elect officials who mirror their views.
2. If voters REALLY wanted to expel the illegals, they themselves would not hire illegals to garden, farm, nanny, clean house and do unskilled/low-skills, low-paying jobs.

There are 11 million illegals. They wouldn't be here unless they had work. They wouldn't be here if politicians (voters, again) denied them the social benefit$ that citizens and legal residents had.
The buck, and it really is about $$buck$$, stops with the voters. We HAVE politicians who mirror their electorate. Too bad.

Huzzah for the Ad hoc citizen border patrol.

It is the OTM that I worry about, the Minute Men have alerted the Border Patrol to many drug runs as well as swarthy OTMs who are not here to love us.

The statements by the President and the Chief of HS are just a diversion.

It was admitted that they don't have the money or the will to deport 15+ million illegal immigrants, and to be honest if we did that the international out cry would be huge. Not to mention the violence.

The strategy is just to throw a nice talking point to the base, and then go to business as usual.

The founder of the Minute Men is or was running for Congress in Cali, right? How's that going?

...today urged Congress and the Bush administration to follow their Constitutional oaths...

Is he kidding?

They have a North American Community to build, with your tax dollars, of course.

And no, you don't have a say in it. You just get to pay for it.

Watched a blip on TV last night about the pols in Washington state wanting to not allow the Minutemen into the state. Said that "they" have nothing against immigration like the Minutemen. No one else has anything against LEGAL immigration. It's the d@mn ILLEGALS that we all have a problem with - from the possible terrorists to the welfare/medical drain to the who knows what kind of illnesses they are bringing in.

I don't know if anyone from the minutemen is running for congress, but that is the next logical step. They need someone to run for governor though not congress. This way they could declare a state of emergency and call up that state's national guard or reactivate old state militias. Most state still have laws dating back from the civil war to draft a state militia. I just don't see where a congressman would help this cause much.

The bottom line is how to rid ourselves of the politicians that blatantly refuse to honor their oath of office thus defend our Constitution in every regard. Bush signed into law the CFR and actually said that he believes it is unconstitutional. Then why the F did he sign it? I don't expect Bush will do anything to protect our boarders unless the word impeachment comes up. There should be something in place to cause immediate removal when a politician presents legislation that is out of the realm of the Constitution or refuses to adhere to their oath of office. Patric Henery's speech in the Virginia State House re the Second Amendment comes to mind.
