On this Day in History 1781 British General Lord Cornwallis surrendered at Yorktown,
effectively bringing an end to the American Revolution. Pleading illness, Cornwallis did not attend the surrender ceremony; his second-in-command, General Charles O'Hara, carried Cornwallis' sword to the American and French commanders. As the British troops marched out to surrender, the British bands played the song "The World Turned Upside Down."

Good morning Canteeners, cubies, newbies and troops! LOVELY day here in the land of the Potentates of the Potomac, I want to play hookey but can't. For those of you who'd like a great belly laugh today, the National Organization For Women has declared today "Love Your Body Day" and their website is chock full of insane stuff. My personal favorite is having an "indulgence party" where everyone dresses VERY casually and eats all the wrong foods. So, in honor of the day, I'm going to indulge myself with a good cigar and some cognac after work; here's a display of some decadent "comfort food". Have a fine day, all!
