Oh wow... well then. With that post you have completely changed my mind. Such cutting comentary, inescapable logic, and irrefutable facts.... I stand in awe. (/sarc)There has been plenty of cutting commentary, inescapable logic, and irrefutable facts presented against the FairTax. The FairTax kooks deny it all. The only thing the Panel will do when they read these ridiculous comments is snicker. They didn't buy into the lies.
Yeah... government does "snicker" at "We the People" an awful lot. At least until election time comes rolling around again.
Rumors of the Fair Taxes demise may have been greatly exaggerated. Especially by people like you who so desperately wish it was so.
There is only one aspect of the Fair Tax as described in the Boortz/Linder book that is flawed, and that was the wage vs. prices analysis. All the other points (reduction in tax compliance costs, benefits of bringing business back to America, easier compliance, more fair, taxes the underground economy and tourist business) are 100% accurate.
It hasn't even been born yet.
Tax reform will eventually become a reality... because it has to if we are to survive as a nation.
The better alternative is reform sooner. But it has to happen if we're going to continue to be a viable economy.
Actually, Nightie, the Comments are more targeted at the Congressmen rather than the Panel. The Panel is a nonentity, anyway, and only reports to John Snow in Treasury. Being, in effect, an arm of the Treasury whose $11 Billion IRS budget for 2006 depends on having same aroung, how can anyone be surprised by their non-recos?
Since you think you're so expert vs the FairTax (pun intended) perhaps you'd like to refute each individual commentary (rather than trying to be dismissive) on this thread in post #5???
