My MA office was in Taunton's industrial park (which is not threatened by this potential flood). However, many of my industrial clients are directly threatened by it. Whittenton is Taunton's old industrial area -- including the old silversmithing district (Ever hear of Reed & Barton?) -- and many jobs may be threatened if that dam breaks.
The flood may also endanger downtown Taunton, with its courthouse and many historic buildings.
Prayers up for the good folks in Taunton, MA!!!
BTW, how is the dam under Bay Road, where Lake Sabatia empties into Whittendon Pond holding up? That one always concerned me. too...
Of course, folks on the Taunton River downstream of where the Mill River empties into it may also be at risk.

I was born and raised in Taunton and lived a mile from the Mill River dam.
The exact same situatrion ocurred in March '68 only the flooding then was caused by rain and a fast spring thaw. The Whittenton dam was also deemed liable to fail then. It was 60 years old and made mainly of wood. Not a damn thing was done to strengthen that dam in the last 40 years.
The more dangerous situation is 1/2 mile upstream with the Morey Street dam that holds back a very swollen Lake Sabbatia. If the first dam fails the Morey dam would be undermined, although it is much stronger. If that went then downtown Taunton will resemble New Orleans at it's worst last month.
