I have MS, and I can't donate...even though there is no reason to believe that MS is a blood borne disease. But since they don't really know what causes it, they won't let MSers donate, just in case it might have its cause in some virus as yet unidentified, and possibly passed along through blood.

I'm sorry to hear that. I had no idea the restrcition would extend like that. If MS were in any way contagious you would think that couples would be likely to both have it.
My husband can't donate because he's been to Europe in the past few years.
They actually said that to him. I think it has to do with the mad cow disease they had a few years back.
They wont take blood if you have ever been treated for Cancer either.
I can't donate simply because I spent time in the Balkans. There's no evidence that my blood is tainted whatsoever, just the suspicion that it *might* be.
Will needs to get over it.
Heck - I am barred from donating because I spent tool long in Germany - as a US soldier! I'm O-negative, too (8% of the pop.) - the universal donor!
This puke makes me SICK!
