Travis County (Austin) is a liberal cesspool. Always has been thanks to the University of Texas and always will be.

Let me improve this slightly...

Travis County (Austin) is a liberal cesspool. Always has been thanks to the aging hippies who have moved there from various places, and because of all the idiots in the bullshit majors (liberal arts, journalism, social work, some of the natural sciences, etc.) at the University of Texas and always will be. If you go to the enginnering or ROTC section (and to a lesser extent the business section) of campus, you will find many strong Texas conservatives.

I wasn't trying to diss all Longhorns. I've known plenty that were conservative. However, the student body of U.T. is far more liberal than Texas A&M. :-) (Although for now your football team is much better. Hopefully you'll stomp Tech on Saturday.)

As for "liberal" arts being a place for mostly liberals, it is true for Journalism, English, and to a lesser extent History and Political science but not always. I had classes with plenty of people who were solid conservatives when I was working on my BA in History.
