I also didn't mean to insult all liberal arts majors. I respect history majors, political science majors, and others. The BS majors I was thinking of were things like Women's Studies, various ethnic studies, sociology, etc.

"he's a Clinton appointee."
Isn't he a state judge? If so, he probably was appointed by Ann Richards or an earlier Democrat governor.

You're both wrong... state judges in Texas are elected, not appointed. The only unelected ones are former/retired judges who are sometimes called upon to hear cases.

You're correct, of course.

I think I got confused because Governors Bush and Perry named people to the Supreme Court, but they must have been temporary appointments to fill vacancies.

Mug shot, Perp walk, and Bail. The Democrats have what they need. Trial is irrelevant, they have their photos, and the story they need for the 06 elections. Now watch the Democrats and their media let this story wind down until next year and you will see all kinds of stories about the corrupt leadership in the Republican party.
Next they go after Frist. Then in 08 .................

"Judge Perkins did not appear to us as a reactionary or leftist scumbag or enemy within that some are saying. He appeared to us to be an old-time LBJ Democrat"

But, But, But
LBJ WAS a reactionary leftist scumbag. The absolute worst kind of reactionary leftist scumbag.

I didn't take it that way. Being a History major, I know there are plenty of liberal kooks in liberal arts but the majority are in the studies like you mentioned as well as journalism.

Your counting $200 to Moveon.org as "beyond biased". Get real, would you consider any member of the NRA to be too biased to serve any cases involving gun laws? Are you counting the contributions to Kerry (only a few of them, the largest of $500) as a contribution to a "Leftwingnutst". Is having voted for Kerry enough to rule out a judge as fair for you guys. Just for grins, please paint for me a picture of someone who ISN'T too biased to be this judge. It should be good for a laugh. You guys screaming about this will get all the news. If the actual numbers get any coverage though, among the rest of the public, this issue will die.

I strongly suggest you become familiar with moveon.org. It's not a mainstream political organization.

I have met only a couple of contributors to moveon.org. Both of them were nuts.

I'm familiar with Move-On. They are liberal. That's it, simply liberal. They are not the boogie man some paint them to be. They are more liberal now then they were in early 2004. Sending $200 to them (especially in the early days of the election cycle) does not indicate the donor would be "beyond biased". If they guy had a radio show on Air America or something like that, I’d say that he should recuse himself from the case. Liberal democrats have the right to be a judge. They have the responsibility of serving on cases, even cases with a taint (real or imagined) of politics, without their political bias influencing the case. If he has any kind of history of not being able to do his job because of his politics, prove it. As I stated in the 1st post, donations to Moveon does not disqualify anyone from this case any more then membership in the NRA does in cases related to violations of gun laws.

You're not very informed. Moveon.org has strong ties to the Communist Party and other extreme organizations. Do a search on FR and find out on your own.

If he has any kind of history of not being able to do his job because of his politics, prove it.

I don't have to prove anything to someone so ignorant. Find out why this judge had to recuse himself when dealing with another Republican, Senator Hutchinson.

"But, But, But

Why the hate, man? Why the hate? It'll tear you up inside.

If you read closely, I wasn't talking about LBJ not being a leftist. I was simply saying that Judge Bob wasn't a long-haired, maggot-infested, dope-smoking, FM-type, plastic banana good-time rock-and-roller. No earring for this judge.

And regarding LBJ - LBJ was an embarrassing President. I'm embarrassed that he was from Texas. I'm embarrassed that he hired Bill Moyers. I'm embarrassed that my hometown of Austin has his library at UT. But KLBJ-AM is a pretty good station, carries Rush; and KLBJ-FM isn't too bad either if you don't mind Led Zeppelin.

Have a great day!

I find the fact that he donated to Moveon on the anniv of 9-11 to be EXTREMELY weird. Do you even find that a little bit weird? We hadn't invaded Iraq at that time. This guy is loopy.

Do you want to see the scars?

As for KLBJ & KLBJ-FM, it is my understanding that the radio and TV stations are the result of Lady Bird Johnson.
Who by the way has always been a a real class act as are the Johnson daughters. But lbj was the scum of the earth. He was lower than a snakes belly in a wagon rut in Death Valley.

Congratulations for finding this info days before it became part of the MSM news!

It was wonderful to think "Free Republic did it again!" while watching DeLay's attorney use this information about the judge this morning.

Oh, no. Portraying Bush as Hitler is just a kinder, gentler way of being a nice little liberal.
