Antarctic ice melts as sea warms but cause unknown...

I know I'm going out on a limb here but anything to help out the headline writer...is it possible that the ice is melting because the water's warmer?

Yeah I thought that too until he wrote Scientists calculate that average world temperatures — which have already risen by 0.6 degrees Celsius (1.1 Fahrenheit) since 1900 — could rise by at least two more degrees this century, due in large part to greenhouse gases from burning fossil fuels.. The writer wasn't interested in the truth, he was only interested in advancing the "global warming" myth.
