I don't understand calling a group that defends those who homeschool instead of a group that defends those falsely accused of child abuse.

In many cases, homeschooling is used as "evidence" of abuse. HSLDA handles a lot of cases like this one, peripherally. The $100.00 annual fee for membership covers an initial consult, in which HSLDA receommended hiring a local lawyer.

I don't find that a red flag, although there are a couple in this story.

Thanks for that very cogent piece of info. I had asked this a few times before, but got a "duh" response instead.

I already know I'm not terribly bright, it's why I asked in the first place.

Is this true? I've been a member of HSLDA for around 14 years and always thought it covered the complete cost of a trial. Thankfully, I've never had to find out.
