Natural history museums around the country are mounting new exhibits they hope will succeed where high school biology classes have faltered: convincing Americans that Charles Darwin's theory of evolution is a rigorously tested cornerstone of modern science.

"I think everyone is realizing that we need to be doing a great deal more. We just haven't made the effort to communicate evolution to people in terms they can understand. Evolution is exciting," Diamond said.

"One of the big misunderstandings, I think, is that a lot of people have stopped realizing that science is a secular activity," said Lance Grande. Field's $17 million, 20,000-square foot, "Evolving Planet" exhibit is slated to open on March 10, 2006.

"In many ways, I blame science itself in that we have done a terrible job of explaining what science is," said Leonard Krishtalka of ... Kansas in Lawrence.
"I would imagine to non-scientists a lot of science and technology sounds like so much magic," he said. "Is it any surprise that so many people are choosing one kind of magic over another kind of magic?"
In an effort to deepen visitors' understanding of evolution, the Field Museum has designed "Evolving Planet" to showcase dinosaurs without allowing them to overshadow everything else. In past evolution exhibits, McCarter said, people "whipped through the origin of life, and everything before the dinosaurs, to go look at the dinosaurs. And by the time they got done looking at the dinosaurs, they were so tired that they whipped out."
This time, he said, "we're using the dinosaurs as kind of the marquee to draw them in and saying, this is a very complicated story, which you've got to dig into over a long period of time."

Yep, they don't get it. You can explain it all you will and they just don't get the fact that science, for all it's advances, is really not much more sophisticated on approach than it was in Washington's time. Science, in absence of truth, raises nonsense in the air and parades it around as truth till it's disproven. The whole while, they marvel at how smart they are and how dumb everyone else is for disbelieving them. When they themselves turn out to be the idiots.. well, we don't talk much about that, we're just brilliantly right about the latest thing we're saying... lol
An embarrassment of riches.
I think that may be the most amazing compendium of ...how shall I put this delicately... uselessly combined words that I have ever seen.
Are you using any kind of definition for the word "mutation"?
The creationist definition of random is so bad, it isn't even random.
You'll note I started with something easy.
Maybe you'd like to try to elicit the concept of random being used here.
OTOH maybe you're too smart to try.
I give up. You can have him (Havoc). There is only so much creationist stupidity I can take without getting overly rude.
Or banned. I have had my full. Good luck, and remember, he's too stupid too take seriously.
Well don't get yourself banned and do check your freepmail.
Watch that old bloodpressure.

Taking a deep breath, counting to ten... :)
Much better. :)
:-)
Looks as if the thread is down for the night anyway. See you at the next wordwar.
I've got most of the trolls on VI.
Wolf
got the files down thanks
I just think about how much free time I would have if I got banned. ;)
On the contrary, I looked past your rhetoric and broke your argumentation down to it's basic form. At that level, it fails. One doesn't need be a molecular biologist to understand randomness and when it can come into play. In point of fact your own argument specifies it to sufficient degree to define it's own error clearly for anyone who knows the first thing about logic.
Logic is the framework the rest must fit upon, and though you've engaged in some form of logic, all your terminology is mere window dressing hoping to overcomplicate the logic. It has not. And the logic becomes the point of your failing. You can throw epithets as you will. I'm pointing out why your theory fails to convince people and why it is rejected by the vast majority of Americans. Your reaction is not that of someone looking for truth, it is that of the cultist defending his ground at any cost. Anyone contesting your position is uninformed and inferior. Your own pride is your undoing. Have fun.
No prob. And you're welcome. It's hard to get an honest exchange from folks who are too impressed with themselves to converse with the unwashed.
Horsefeathers.
What is logical about, say, a camel or an armadillo? Or measles?
Logic, espcially poorly applied, is not the only tool in the box. Often, it is absolutely irrelevant. Always, it is completely dependent on the quality of the premise(s) used
Still waiting for those Dr. Rainbow quotes. I guess you made it all up.
"I'm pointing out why your theory fails to convince people and why it is rejected by the vast majority of Americans."
Wouldn't you wish that were true. It isn't. Most Americans believe in some form of evolution. Most don't believe in a literal Genesis.
"Logic is the framework the rest must fit upon, and though you've engaged in some form of logic, all your terminology is mere window dressing hoping to overcomplicate the logic."
Translation: I was talking over your head.
"Anyone contesting your position is uninformed and inferior."
No, just you. :)
I'm afraid you'd need to shed light on the animals and the measles re logic. You brought 'em up.
You're right, logic isn't the only tool in the box. It just happens to be the chief tool used in debunking sophistry - and that is what evolution plainly is - complete and utter sophist tripe. One need not concern oneself with the religious arguments that might be applied. It fails on basic logic.
If you choose to be purposefully dumb on that mark, more power to you. I really don't care what you believe. Seriously. I'd prefer you were in God's graces; but, you have free will. If you mock or reject God, you're paddling your own boat. And it's none of my concern. What damage you do to the faith of others, well, that God will see to.
My point being that if you are that dumb, be dumb. You seem to enjoy it. The public is largely sick of the darwinist garbage and is working to deal with it. Merry Christmas.
What, you're still talkin? Thought you packed up your toys and went home. Oh, almost forgot, your ego insists on you having the last word - right.. lol. Happy paddling.
More horsefeathers.
Since you don't understand evolution there is no way you can analyse it logically or otherwise.
You are incredibly arrogant to think you can decide if I am in God's graces or not. It is part of the hubris that claims that imperfect man has, at this moment in time, infallibly translated an infallibly transmitted the Bible and perfectly understood it.
I have a less exaulted view of man and a far more exaulted view of God.
Well, once again, if you bothered to READ, you'd see that I didn't make any such decision. You really don't bother reading do you - at least not to the extent of thinking beyond your bias and hostility. Comprehension requires some attention - try it sometime.
As for my "arrogance", thank you. I'm no less bold in my convictions than you and I'm honest about it - even when others can't seem to be. As for what is hubris about understanding God's word - it has nothing to do with accuracy or infallibility - it has to do with morality and the existance of a God in most cases. People don't seem to like a God that puts rules upon them. Not a bit.
As for my view of men, I'm with you there, I don't have much of an opinion of the capacity of men. They often educate themselves into uselessness and think more of their capacity than it's actually worth. As for your "more exhaulted" view of God.. if you consider blasphemy or near kin to it more exhaulted, we ain't talkin about the same being. Alas, this is an evo thread. If your ego demands you nurse it, by all means impress away. I'm going to bed.
