"F--- this s---. I'm outta here."
Fits the description.
I don't think it was as late as midnight. If I'm wrong, perhaps someone who is local will correct me, but I think the 10 o'clock news said someone was in custody, and they didn't mention how many or what their names were. Anyone else remember those first newscasts? I didn't know about the "minutes later" until the Malkin column either. I had just assumed it had taken some hours to get the info together.
Thanks. Many more Q than A on this. The fact that media still played it off is also a mystery. Yet someone's Koran had a fly land on it, and there are 400 stories done on it.
Exactly... especially if he wasn't in custody until 4 1/2 hours AFTER the explosion.
As I said, Tamara Pratt from Channel 9 reported that they were still looking for "5 others" for either having something to do with the bomb or for taking things out of the apartment. If this is the case I'm wondering whether someone was writing this "note" on the computer and when authorities were seen pulling into the apartment complex they didn't then run... That would definitely account for the "cursor still blinking" report.
I also wonder if it was saved into the computer or whether the FBI had to do that? (An auto-save function if running could give investigators a clue as to when exactly the note was written.) Still, even if it was written before the blast there is no way they could be positive it was written by Joel III - or was written willingly.
We don't have the exact wording, but perhaps the "situation" he referred to was him being involved in something he felt he couldn't get out of? I'm thinking that his trip to the feed store was an effort to get caught personally. He had to have known it would raise suspicion - perhaps he was looking for a way out...
Again, this is all SPECULATION and I'm not convinced that any of my theories are the right one! I'm only "thinking aloud" as it were and exploring all possible scenarios.
Education is a business.

And a president's job is 99.9% finance.
There are two reports floating around about the time Cheema was taken into custody...
A.) Minutes after the explosion (which would mean sometime between 7:20 and 8:15pm). This as reported by student journalist Kahne who apparently was speaking with the MSA President about it (says it wasn't a party).
and
B.) Shortly after midnight as reported by Barakat the OU instructor also taken into custody.
I don't recall any mention of anyone in custody until the group including Barakat was mentioned. I'll have to review my notes, but I didn't hear or see anything until that time.
This is a huge 4 1/2 hour discrepancy... either Kahne's sources are lying about the time, or Cheema was taken into custody and THEN went to the apartment containing Barakat and was taken into custody again (which doesn't seem likely).
Good, you found and read that report... I take too long writing up my posts. (o:
I've seen "Good night" and "opus" posts on FR that looked like that.
You're welcome. I'm still rather disappointed that the networks bought the line about the "lone suicide" so early and didn't deem it necessary to send their own experienced investigative reporters to the scene. It's easy for them to dismiss locals due to their "holier than thou" attitude towards journalists in smaller markets. I think they missed a HUGE oppotunity - would've been a lot harder for Boren to spin this one if the campus were crawling with people like Geraldo! LOL
oppotunity = opportunity
Perhaps this is appropriate considering the circumstance of the situation.
Again, there seem to be conflicting reports on this--waiting to see if others recall the 10 pm newscasts that night.
Someone on scene at the time reported, "Three buses have been wiped down and sprayed, clearing the remains of the suicide bomber. The buses are still parked on the South Oval." No damage to buses mentioned -- except one had burn marks. See http://michellemalkin.com
Also, "there were 50 lit matches around the bench where he blew himself up."
Okay, suicide. He did all that to commit suicide. It appears.
Will we ever see all of the investigation results? Fat chance anything will be released.
The "sole" participants in the Murrah Building bombing have been tried, convicted and punished -- one executed and the other two (Nichols and Fortier) in prison but likely to suffer deadly "accidents" -- yes, I truly believe Nichols' days are numbered as people like Attorney Jesse Trentadue force more and more documents out via the federal courts. That cover-up reaches into the Clinton oral office, IMO.
The 1995 OKC bombing solved. Yet, key information remains locked up. Why? Where's the surveillance tapes? Even CBS, et al. can't get them. Why? What's the big deal about McVeigh parking the truck (alone), leaving the truck (alone), and driving off in an old Mercury (alone)?
