[ FYI. If you have interest and the time, I would be interested in your feedback. ]

Aircraft carriers are indeed quite sexy.. Military Pornography..
You should be ashamed.. Your a bad man.. LoL..

The Worlds Aircraft carriers today...
Would make for quite a different World War II... for sure..
Needed?... sure but merely as a threat.. way too vulnerable to subs and other technology....

I'm sure you get my point..

I wonder what would be a good name for CVN-78

It would be nice to get away from the recent trend of naming carriers after political leaders, and back to some traditional carrier names.

CVN-78 should be either Lexington or Yorktown (now that the Aegis cruiser is out of service with little prospect of coming back)

CVN-79 should be Enterprise (since CVN-65 will be replaced by CVN-78)

CVN-80 should be the name above that isn't used by CVN-78

CVN-81 should be Ranger.

It would also be nice to see Shangri-La, Saratoga, Oriskany, Bunker Hill (once the Aegis cruiser retires) and Hornet used again. Sara and Hornet should definitely go onto CVNs, the others maybe on the projected LHD(R)s ...

Well I know next to nothing on this topic-so the following reaction comes from a lay person. I found the site well organized, easy to navigate and engaging. I now know more about Aircraft carriers then I ever knew. Good job.

Midway, Coral Sea

Definitely. But given how recently they were in active use, and the lack of precedessor carriers, I'd put them further down on the list.

I still can't get over how the Brits are going with QE and PoW as their names. I was really pulling for Hermes, Furious or Victorious.

Thanks...they are really magnificent vessels...and for freedom loving people, they stand as sentinels, protecting the sea ways and our freedoms.

Glad you enjoyed it.

What a great idea! I'm sure you'll get a great deal of interest (and marketable hits!) with this site!

Two suggestions:

1. At some point, put up a "Historic Aircraft Carriers" site, with all the World War II Japanese, British, and American carriers on it, and

2. Offer saleable merchandise (T-shirts, hats, etc.) I can help you with this, so contact me if you're interested.

Other than that, I see nothing that could be improved. The site is simple, quick-loading, and easy to access. Great job!

PS -- I have some ENTERPRISE photos I took while I was aboard that I can send you if you like.

PPS -- The ID silhouette of the ENTERPRISE that you're using on the site is out of date...

Thanks B-Chan.

The idea about the World War II carriers is a really good one...but it took so much time to do this...the ones from World War II are much more numerous. I still have to work for a living and that type of thing will have to come along incrementally as I try and keep what I have already done up to date.

As to the hits and marketing and all...I guess I want to just provide a site that is informative, easy to use and that is as unencumbered by all of that as possible. I'll have to think on that.

Jeff,

If the GHW Bush is going to replace the Kitty Hawk, what ship will be deployed to Yokosuka, Japan? They are mightily opposed to nukes there and the dry dock at Yokosuka isn't large enough for the Nimitz class carriers.

Remember we kept the Midway CV-41 for an extra decade or so for that very reason.

Regards,

TS

On the site, under Kitty Hawk..or the JFK...I mention that it will probably be the JFK.

She's conventional...and is slated to be around until the second CVN-21 carrier comes out. 2018.
