LAFAYETTE, Calif. - The wife of prominent defense attorney and TV legal analyst Daniel Horowitz was found slain in the couple's San Francisco area home, police said.
Horowitz called 911 Saturday evening to report that the body of his wife, 52-year-old Pamela Vitale, was in the entryway of their home in an upscale neighborhood, police said.
The woman's identity has not been confirmed by authorities, but "based on what we know, it's believed to be the wife of Daniel Horowitz," said Contra Costa Sheriff's spokesman Jimmy Lee.
Authorities would not release details of how the victim died, but said it was a homicide. They had no suspects.
"We're talking to several individuals," Lee said. "Nobody's in custody right now."
A call to the Horowitz' home from The Associated Press went unanswered late Saturday.
"I can't talk," Horowitz told the San Francisco Chronicle when reached on his cell phone Saturday. "I can't. It's beyond words."
Horowitz is a regular television legal commentator who appears frequently on CNN, MSNBC and Fox News and was a frequent commentator during the Laci Peterson murder trial.
Horowitz is currently defending Susan Polk, accused of murder in the 2002 stabbing death of her husband in the poolhouse of their Orinda home. The trial had been scheduled to continue next week.
Vitale, a former high-tech marketing executive, worked at her husband's law practice, creating and managing databases.
Somebody better call Perry Mason!
He looks like Chuckie Shumer.
ROTF..............
Yes he has that same sleazy scheisteristic demeanor and an offensive sounding, tho not quite as obnioux voice as Schumer.
Wow. A murder in Lafayette? That doesn't happen very often. The last one I remember was quite a few years ago when some opportunistic thugs rode BART from one of the outlying areas, got off at the Lafayette station (I think they even jumped the turnstyles), walked up Happy Valley Road from the station and found a house that was unlocked. They went in and killed the woman there, stole her car, cash and jewelry. I think at the time the previous murder had been 10 years previous to that one. Not exactly a dangerous area.
He made some awful comments about Laci while commenting on either Fox or Court TV, don't remember which. I found him very offensive.
I hadn't been following this case he's involved in now until I saw a piece on it on NBC Friday night. That family is really a messed up family, and two of the boys might have enough of a grudge to have gone after Horowitz, perhaps in an effort to deprive him of his wife as they were deprived of their father--who knows.
Or maybe, like in many of these cases, he did it.
He can't talk, but he's taking calls on his cell phone from newpaper reporters.
A 'no comment' comment.
That's what they said about O.J. And Robert Blake. Wait for the jury, I say.
Ghastly. Ghouls. Vultures. "Your wife was killed! How do you feel?"

And they need to be looking for a one-armed man,
according to Horowitz :-)
The story, by the way, did appear earlier on FR as:

That said, you notice the Italian last name of wife, different from Horowitz's last name. I wonder why married couples do that. Was she showing off her name? Was she independently working under her own name and made more money than he?
They had a lot of money, "upscale neighnorhood," and all....or were really in the hole, financially speaking? Lots of insurance money from daddy? Gambling? Gender change? (Lol. You never know in San Francisco.)
This might prove to be interesting fodder for the rags....unless there are just too many politicial gender/race cards to be played. If that is so, then this whole thing will disappear from the rag headlines.
Who knows.
Will this make it to "Law & Order," RIPPED from the today's headlines? < sarcasm >
You are stirring things up again, Dawg. Grrrrr. :o)
What I'm remembering--someone correct me if I'm wrong--was that he insinuated she was sleeping around. Sickening.
Nah, Law and Order NEVER gets storylines from real news..ROFL
He is a puke and should be a suspect. Won't be on CNN for a while but no one I know watches that propaganda any way.
As a long time CourtTV watcher, i know for sure one thing. That the husband is always the first suspect and has to be eliminated first.
