It doesn't seem like there is a side to cheer for in this thing. Obviously neo nazis are getting no sympathy. But the riot that ensued has no excuse and seems to involve gang members. It seems to me violent gangs are at least as dangerous as neo nazis in the present day.

Nice, except the "neo-nazis" haven't done anything, in terms of violence, to compare with criminal gangs. Every time the "nazis" do anything remotely violent (or merely threaten it), the federal government and media are all over them, whereas the criminal gangs commit violent crimes every day, and except when a big riot like this breaks out, the media pretends "nothing is happening" and the federal government is uninterested.
Seriously, how many people have been killed by actual, organized "neo-nazis" in the USA in the last twenty years? Two? Three? Four people, maybe? A dozen, if we are being generous? If you stretch the definition of "neo-nazi" beyond actual nazis to just anyone whose politics you don't like, who were not even affiliated with anyone (for instance Timothy McVeigh, who wasn't a nazi or racist in spite of what the media tries to imply) you still don't have a body count even close to the thousands murdered every year by criminal gangs. But since these gangs are mostly "minority" the media don't want to talk about it, instead they like to shout "look! look! lookatthenazioverthere!" even though the nazis in question are entirely marginal and no one would even notice them if the media didn't constantly harp on them.
In addition to the media, we have leftist losers who desperately need the neo-nazis to exist, in order to justify their own existence. They desparately need the "nazis" around in order to justify their own leftist calls to violence. Where would they be without the nazis to beat up on? Since their own politics have so obviously failed, they need a nazi strawman to beat up on and to justify their pathetic failed existence.
