Everyone makes mistakes. The mark of a true leader is admitting his mistake," Bossetta said. "The mistake was sending the pump station personnel out of East Jefferson. The half truths being perpetrated on the citizens of Jefferson by the emergency operations center under the direction of Aaron Broussard are truly a travesty."

"Broussard administration officials said this week they are not prepared to draw conclusions about why East Jefferson flooded."

Gee, why would you want to draw conclusions when the answer leads right back to your own incompetence. Once again, a Dem starts with pointing fingers at others when the blame rests squarely at his own feet.

When is the next election for Jeff. Parish Prez? Would it not be sweet to see that complete jackass, Aaron Broussard replaced as Jefferson Parish President by Patrick Bossetta. I'd send a few bucks to Bossetta if he ran, no matter what his party affiliation.

From above link: excerpt

Meadowcrest employees protest parish order

About 100 Meadowcrest Hospital employees demonstrated outside the facility this morning, saying they could lose their jobs if Jefferson Parish President Aaron Broussard doesn’t release the hospital back to its owners.

Under powers granted parish presidents by state law during emergencies, Broussard commandeered Meadowcrest days after Hurricane Katrina passed to provide housing for medical staff, emergency workers and National Guard troops. He took over the hospital after Meadowcrest employees and patients evacuated.

Broussard nearly had a breakdown on Tim Russert in September.
He also had some unkind words about our President.
He gives a new meaning to the words " corrupt politician".

Bossetta better watch his six. U. S. Senator Blondie (D-LA) has put everyone on notice she's gonna punch out anyone who criticizes state and local officials in LA.

Another judge's records sought in probe -
Windhorst one of four Jeff jurists subpoenaed
Times-Picayune, The (New Orleans, LA)
August 24, 2005
Author: Michelle Krupa
West Bank bureau
Estimated printed pages: 3

State Judge Steve Windhorst said he has received a federal grand jury subpoena for records of political donations from Bail Bonds Unlimited, bringing to four the number of Jefferson Parish jurists to acknowledge being called to the investigative panel since ex-Judge Alan Green's mail fraud conviction.

Windhorst said he will comply with the subpoena, which asks for documentation of campaign contributions, gifts or other things of value from Bail Bonds Unlimited or its executives, Louis and Lori Marcotte.

"Any further comment on this pending matter would be inappropriate," Windhorst said in a two-sentence statement.

State 5th Circuit Court of Appeal Judge Susan Chehardy, state Judge Kernan "Skip" Hand and Justice of the Peace Steve Mortillaro of Jefferson's 5th Justice Court confirmed last week that they had received similar grand jury subpoenas for testimony and records of any contributions or gifts from Bail Bonds Unlimited or its employees beginning in 1995.

The requests were to be answered by Friday, attorneys close to the subpoena recipients said.

Green was found guilty June 29 of one crime stemming from the federal government's 6 ½-year Operation Wrinkled Robe inquiry, which has focused in large part on the corrupting influence of Bail Bonds Unlimited on judges and jailers in Gretna. The trial jury deadlocked on six other charges against Green, including racketeering and conspiracy.

Company documents presented at the trial showed that more than a dozen members of Jefferson's political elite, judiciary and legal community received favors or gifts from Bail Bonds Unlimited. Windhorst, Chehardy, Hand and Mortillaro were among those named.

According to an internal company register, Bail Bonds Unlimited used its extensive property holdings around the courthouse to provide free parking for at least 24 people who worked for eight judges. Windhorst's staff had four spaces, the document shows; he has declined to comment about the free parking.

Windhorst, 48, was elected to the 24th Judicial District Court bench in 1996 after serving five years in the Legislature. A Republican from Gretna, Windhorst previously worked as a Jefferson Parish prosecutor and as a Sheriff's Office reserve deputy.

Others who acknowledged receipt of grand jury subpoenas in recent days were Jefferson Parish President Aaron Broussard................

Exactly! When it comes to liberal losers, the more guilty they are they more they scream (and CRY) foul. Katrina brought limited rainfall and the all the levees held in JP. So Broussard's RUN AWAY, RUN AWAY order left the pumps unmanned and the city flooded. Period.

I am a former resident (35 years) of the east bank of Jefferson Parish, and I remmeber the "May 3rd flood of the century???". My house stood exactly 9 inches below sea level. To me it is unbelievable that anyone would order the pumps turned off and the "operators" transported 100 miles away.!!! Heck on my street we would have 2 feet of water after an afternoon thunder shower! LOL

I need to see (D) or (R) after these names to keep track of the players. Oh, I forgot they only do that when there is an (R) involved.

"2 feet of water after an afternoon thunder shower!"

I lived and went to school in JP, 2 of my 3 kids were born in JP... and you are correct about flooding after even thunderstorms. Boo-Hoo Broussard evacuated the pumphouses before Katrina and, well, the rest is history.

If you can believe it, even a Times-Picayune editorial places the blame at Boo-Hoo's feet:

"The pump debacle
Wednesday, October 12, 2005
Lots of people in Jefferson Parish are furious over Parish President Aaron Broussard's decision to evacuate more than 200 pump station workers as Hurricane Katrina loomed in the Gulf of Mexico. And while Mr. Broussard has vehemently defended that move ever since, residents have ample reason to be upset.

Mr. Broussard's administration suggests that the evacuation probably didn't exacerbate any flooding in the parish. The parish president himself has said that protecting workers' lives is more important than avoiding damage to property.

But this is a false choice, because moving parish employees out of harm's way may well have increased the risk to Jefferson residents who remained behind..."

It seems councilman-at-large John Young may be interested in a run against Broussard as well.

*****"Broussard administration officials said this week they are not prepared to draw conclusions about why East Jefferson flooded."*****

"An elaborate network of drainage canals and pump stations is crucial to keeping water off the streets." But for 36 hours on August 28 and 29, the Times-Picayune continued, Jefferson pump stations sat silent, simply because parish officials had sent a total of 1,100 workers and 700 vehicles to Mount Hermon, near the state line, including the men and women who operate the pumps.
