Democracy is great---I prefer it over any other form of government---but I'm not so foolish as to think it's a pancea, or that every democratic state will be a "good citizen."

Your right, you also need to be connected to the "family of nations". Part of that terrible thing called the "global economy".

Nonsense. Classical Athens---a democracy---was a terror against its neighbors long before any "global economy." The fact is, a democracy is moderately better than other forms of government at being aggressive, but it is no 100% guarantor of "peace, love, and brotherhood." Ask the Spartans.
