Luckily, the video card isn't dependent on the modem. If there is a reachable cable outlet, you can watch TV on your monitor. You could also use an antenna if the signal is OK where you are.

I've got a cable modem, so I have a splitter in my cable line to connect to both.

I have dish network and dial up, how would I hook up the UHF to the puter.

so does that mean you don't need the video card if you have a cable modem?

....where would one get a spliter for a cable line?
