MOSCOW -- Authorities said today that 108 people have been killed in Russia's North Caucasus region as Islamic militants have staged coordinated attacks on police and government buildings in a new wave of violence spilling over from war-torn Chechnya.

At least 24 law enforcers, 12 civilians and 65 guerrillas have died in the two days of fighting in Nalchik, capital of the predominantly Muslim republic of Kabardino-Balkaria, authorities said. Seven more guerrillas were reported killed in an outlying district and 17 were captured.

Gunmen who held hostages overnight in a Nalchik police station and in a souvenir shop were killed this morning, and the captives were freed, authorities said.

As I was reading the article further, I noticed that the LATimes calls it an "uprising", not terrorism, and it's all Putin's fault, just like here everything is Bush's fault. And keeps calling the TERRORISTS, even the monsters who murdered children at Beslan "militants".

"Thursday, Russian President Vladimir V. Putin ordered that the uprising be crushed.

In September 2004, militants seized a school in the town of Beslan, about 60 miles southeast of Nalchik, and more than 300 hostages, police officers and rebels died in explosions and a shootout."

I've noticed how little coverage of it there is anywhere, even on Fox.

According to the MSM, it is not the 'rebels' fault that they 'had to' kill people. They were forced into doing so by the evil orders of President Putin.

Same thing in Iraq. If it wasn't for the vile actions of President Bush then all those 'insurgents' and 'fighters' would be busy doing productive work and building up their nations GDP. Thus they were 'forced' into blowing themselves up.

MSM: Massively Schizophrenic Myopia! (TM).

Actually, it is terrorism in a broader sense...but it might possibly be the start of a larger civil war in the Caucuas region of Russia.

The reason is most Americans don't care, apart from the few of us jihad watchers here.

And, now that the USTVmedia's mantra is what the people want to watch, as opposed to some quaint, archaic notion of informing the people about significant events worldwide, you know, news, they'll focus on some missing coed or tawdry, trashy tabloid murder sensation.

I mean, how important could it be, a bunch of Russians in some place Americans couldn't find on a map.

The Russians are much smarter than that. Amnesty International isn't going to get anywhere near the terrorist prisoners.

True. Imagine if the same kind of thing happened here.
