Gee, every home game at USAF Academy, here in Colorado Springs, we just love looking up from our seats to see all kinds of aircraft like F15, F16, B1, B2, C130, KC135, and when Army comes we usually see a bunch of helicopters too!
When the fighters light up the burners as they pass by, we still say, "that's the sound of freedom"!

This is one of those dimwits that will be first in line to be critical of the draft if it gets reinstated. The Blue Angels are a powerful recruitment tool for the Navy. 21 Years ago, I saw the Blue Angels flying A-4 Skyhawks at the Quonset Naval Air Station. Within a month I enlisted, served for six years flying on sub-hunters, and was honorably discharged. It was the most difficult/rewarding 6 years of my life. I may have decided otherwise, had I not gone to that airshow.

Maybe we could just have them zone in on your place.

recruiting tool - yes
but they are also an operational unit that can be armed and deployed globally in something like IIRC <24 hours. There are many units that are constantly training to be ready when called upon. The angels and T-birds just happen to be good advertising too.

I read the advertisement in the Chicago Tribune for the Cannes International Film Festival for May 17 of next year, and my jaw dropped in disbelief.
I just don't understand how Hollywood can justify flying these stars to their annual film celebration given the liberals plea to Americans to cut back on fuel usage.
Surely there is something better that can be done with our entertainment manpower other than a boastful display of filming skills, like paying for supplies and materials to aid the victims of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
Am I missing something here? Perhaps the sound that we'll feel and hear when the commercial jets fly overhead will be the sounds of Barbra Streisand crying.
