The man claims that it was never intended that he should take reponsibility for the children, but rather that the women would be their parents and he would meet them occasionally.

That was his mistake! When you donate your sperm give them the cup and walk away. This guy wanted visitation rights which is probably why he had to admit paternity. I don't feel sorry for him at all. If you want to visit your genetic offspring then take some responsibility.
