"Change will come with these "one child" children."
I suspect that is true. The question is: what direction will they go? Will they treasure their own kids or will they continue their self-centeredness into adulthood and penalize the next generation, if there is one.
It will be interesting to see what happens to the Chinese people over the next couple of generations.

You are right about excuses for going round the bend. One doesn't really need an excuse but if one is prominent and handy, it might be the straw that breaks the camel's back.
One of my own kids was victimized by a man frustrated that he couldn't kill the doctor who sterilized his wife. We had nothing to do with it, just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time when he went round the bend.
By the way, don't off a kid, no matter how tempting. ;)

Feelings? As far as my objection to the nomination, it centers on known facts.
1. We know nothing about this person's view of the Constitution. Is it a document that restricts the government or one that restricts the people?
2. The President expects our trust when he has done nothing to earn it in the last 5 years. Leave no child behind, the border, Medicare drugs benefit, big deficits, a well thought out plan to pacify Iraq, The surrender of the Social Security without a fight, the backing of liberal Rep for the Senate against conservatives in the primaries, the out of control spending. Each and every time the President has said trust me and we have and he screwed the base.
3. He has spent his political capital on side issues and has become a lame duck overnight with this nomination letting us drift leaderless for the next three years with the Senate firmly in control of domestic policy.
There are more which I am sure you are aware of but it comes down to this: "trust me" is an emotional response i.e feelings. the ones that do not like this nomination want facts to back up the President. It has nothing to do with feelings. I really hope the President can get his act together the American people need him now more than ever but since the election the WH has been one complete disaster. Enough is Enough if we need to shake up the party to make us stronger then so be it.

It is that little thing that says the Senate shall give its advice and consent. Now since the Senate is elected nowadays by the PEOPLE and the People decide if the Senators keep their job then they must listen to the PEOPLE once in a while. By listening to the PEOPLE the Senate rejects the nomination and thus the PRESIDENT must also listen to the PEOPLE in an indirect way. That is how a Republic works. It is not get elected and then do what ever the hell you want and break your promises to those that elected you. That has a tendency to end up losing you a job.
She is applying for a job. She must show us she is qualified for that job thus the burden of prove is on her. I would not hire an employee that just says trust me I can do the job. I would want a resume, work experience, references, etc.
Mad? if this goes through I think 2006 primaries will show you how mad we are. The house leaders think only 37 seats on in play this could put another 30 in play easily. And put some Senate seats in play also.

Mad? if this goes through I think 2006 primaries will show you how mad we are. Oh right, get mad at the president for choosing a nominee that wasn't on your personal list of conservative heroes and give control of Congress back to Pelosi and Reid. Yessiree Bob, that'll show him a thing or two!
Then when the next slate of federal circuit and appeals court nominations is sent up by the White House, see how many originalists make it through a judicial committee with a Democrat majority and chaired by a Democrat like Schumer or Biden. Cutting off your nose to spite your face because you're nursing a childish snit makes about as much sense as the classic circular firing squad.

Who said anything about giving control to the dems? I said the primaries. You do know the primary where you chose which Republican you want for the general election? Since only about 50% of the adult population are registered to vote and only about 30-50% of those registered voters vote in off year elections and only about half of those vote in the primary the side that is more committed wins. Look at the hard left the Democrats took in their primaries. this can and will happen in the Republican primaries if the Republican leaders continue to ignore the conservative point of view. I am not saying for us to get everything but we have gotten nothing from this administration. No secure border, no limited government, no constitutional amendments to protect marriage, no tax reform to limit the power of government, no constitutional supreme court. Instead the leadership has consistently screwed Middle America from bankruptcy, to large no bid contracts, to more entitlements that fall increasingly on the backs of the middle class, to run away gasoline prices that continue to give the oil companies record profits while tens of millions of American are trying to find ways to heat their homes and get their kids to ball games and school functions. We have kept quiet for 5 years, sure we made the occasional remark but by and large we have kept faith in the President because we are at War and we love our country. We have tried to work with the President but he has slapped ALL of our views in our face. So if the Republican party goes to the right and loses the middle vote do not blame us blame the President and the Congressional leadership for going to far to the left.

Absolutely he is a nutcase. My theory was in response to an earlier poster who wondered why so many of these Chinese nutcases attacked children totally unrelated to them.

"I consider RKBA one of the most important rights we have."
Understand that I'm not slamming you, but RKBA is the ONLY important right we have. Without it, there are NO other rights, we are at the mercy of anyone who wants to do anything to us, from the crazy guy down the street to the government itself.
