The umpire crew claiming they watched the blown up reverse angle replay and it was the right call....

What a crock....

The umpire should go back to T Ball

From those photos, it looks too close to call.

The batter swings and misses for strike three, seemingly ending the inning, and immediately turns and starts walking toward his dugout... The catcher stands and heads toward his own dugout and at the same time does the routine roll of the ball back to the mound. The batter suddenly changes his mind, spins around, and takes off toward first. That leaves plenty of time for SOMEBODY on the Angels to react, but nobody did. The batter makes it to first base unchallenged and is as amazed as everybody else in the stadium, not to mention the millions of television viewers, to find that he is SAFE!

The whole thing was a mess, and I have no idea how the umpire, standing BEHIND the catcher, could have determined that the ball glanced off the dirt. No way.

Second, you're wrong because umpires' calls ARE PART OF THE GAME.

Wrong.

In this case the unpire was not only part of the game, he WAS the game.

You're welcome!

This was cheating unethical behavior.

Blame the catcher. Blame the UMP. But don't blame the Sox.

They did everything right, and both of the others screwed up. AJ got caught on that same play with the Giants, He learned his lesson.

The evidence is clear, right call by the ump, and the catcher should have tagged him out.

Go White Sox.

"The ball hit the dirt mere inches from impacting the catcher's glove. Watch it frame by frame and the frame before impact shows the ball at a lower hieght than at the catch. That was my (and my friends) first clue."

EXACTLY. If you zoom in on the glove, and then run the play back and forth without stopping, the angle of the ball BOUNCING UP into the mitt is clear as day......

He clearly raised his clenched fist shoulder high and pumped it once.

That signals OUT.

It also signals strike. Sheesh.

"Not only did the Angels players start walking off the field, I thought I saw A.J. Pierzinski (sp?) walk towards the dugout before turning suddenly and running towards first- he even believed that he was out at first."

Your interpretation is incorrect. AJ faked out the catcher - he made the move towards his dugout to GET AROUND the catcher, and when he saw the catcher start walking away he turned and ran...

USA Soviet Union basketball Gold Medal game robbery was worse. You are a little emotional now. Review the play again and see that it may have bounced.

It was close, but the ball did not hit the ground the webbing caught it. The catcher KNEW it did not hit the ground. The ump called the guy out twice. The catcher should have went and got the ball and said "Show me the DIRT on the ball from where it hit the ground."

I believe now that the Angels will not lose another game in this series.
