Massachusetts Republican Party officials, down to their last chance to find a credible candidate, are working to persuade Essex Sheriff Frank G. Cousins Jr. to run against US Senator Edward M. Kennedy next year.

Uppity Negro.....the nerve to run against a fine liberal like Teddy.
Where do I donate?
Tell the guy to stay out of Oldsmobiles!!
They should find a Republican named Edward Kennedy to run against him.
We will see the end of the Liberals plantation system in this country within our lifetime.
"I'm sick of the half assed candidates we throw up everytime"
The guy has a pretty impressive background in the public and private sector.
Oh how I would love to see him defeated! Teddy, that is.
"Tell the guy to stay out of Oldsmobiles!!"
Too funny, before he was a state representative and sheriff he owned a car dealership. Maybe he sold Olds.
No they should find one named John F. Kennedy. Now THAT would be funny.
Prior to becoming Sheriff, Frank served two terms as State Representative (1992-1996) from the 1st Essex District and was a Newburyport City Councilor (1989-1993).
His private sector work experience includes ownership of an automobile dealership, retail management, and real estate sales.
Sheriff Cousins is a graduate of Springfield College where he received both his BA (Human Services), and his Master's Degree (Criminal Justice). In addition to his academic course-work, Sheriff Cousins attended the National Sheriff's Institute in Denver, CO (January 1998) the Massachusetts Senior Executive Program at Harvards John F. Kennedy School of Government (February 2000) and the prestigious Law Enforcement Executive Development Seminar (LEEDS) at the FBI Academy in Quantico, VA (February 2004).
On a personal note Sheriff Cousins resides in his hometown of Newburyport with his wife Nicole and son Gardner William.
Didn't a black democrat challenge Teddy once in a primary? As I remember Kennedy's team totally slimed him.
"Didn't a black democrat challenge Teddy once in a primary? As I remember Kennedy's team totally slimed him."
That was Jack E. Robinson, a black Republican.
Here's what the Dems did to him:

All these people moaning and groaning about Meirs and we can't get it together to challenge two senile old farts like Kennedy and Byrd and get a solid senate majority.
Yes, Robinson must have been the one but I do seem to remember an earlier challenger, a black democrat.
What has happened to Mr. Robinson in the intervening 5 years?
White Republican may take on Kennedy
I'm sure this would be the Boston Globes's headline if a white Republican would take on Kennedy.
