Not being sarcastic...just hopeful, based on the signs.

The administration expected this to just die down once they put out their spin and marshalled the troops.

Problem was as least half the troops don't want to fight this battle for them. And the stuff they're throwing out isn't sticking.

They're getting more desperate and throwing out stories just to see if they're bought by the people who are daring to dissent. Very,very few people are buying it, except for the ones who have already bought into it from the beginning.

Don't think Bush will with draw here directly, but there will probably be a meeting of the minds where the best course of action is determined to have the nominee take the hit and cite some sort of personal reason to withdraw her nomination.

There's no way. No one would buy it. It's up to the Senate.
