And ultimately it wouldn't matter whether the UN controlled it or not because redundent systems would be immediately created to override the UN.
While I'm sure my paradigm of the Internet is not perfect, yours is clearly askew.
'Redundant systems' are already in place in the form of the root name servers. The Internet is not so much a physical thing as it is a formalization of information. In the UN/EU desire for control we see them wanting to be able to overwrite the existing truth, 'names to IP', with pointers approved by them. I don't think that it is possible.
Administrators would merely ignore control messages/registrations from UN/EU 'root servers'.
There are plans in the works to develop Internet II as a means of overcoming the impossible platform problems that exist with the current system. Where can I find more information about this?
