Let them filibuster til dooms day. Who cares? Just get it all on CSPAN for the folks back home.
Meanwhile, is a recess appointment out of the question?

"...is a recess appointment out of the question?"
I thought that was the main reason the President made Ambassador Bolton a recess appointment - to set a precedent.
Imagine the howls if he does it with Miss Miers...

Meanwhile, is a recess appointment out of the question? No. but any recess appointment made this year expires in January 2007. I wouldn't put it past the 'Rats to block a vote until then and effectively make the President's SCOTUS Appointments expire with his administration in January 2009 at the latest. That does us no good at all, IMHO. We have to win confirmation.

The democrats are counting on a Rove indictment, high gasoline prices, and a raging war in Iraq which they hope will give them a senate majority in '06.
They'd love nothing better than to delay this SCOTUS appointment. Then we could do no better than Alberto Gonzales.
Miers deserves her hearing and an up or down vote.

Jim, I was thinking about this "recess appointment" angle with Miers. I think the resignation of O'Conner stated it was effective when a replacement was "confirmed". That might be the stumbling block to a recess appointment.
