And 3) It took George Martin to "make" the "Lennon/McCartney Magic."
They were both good, but together, they were better than just the sum of their talents. But it was George Martin that really took their "rough diamond" talent and polished it to the point where it shone brilliantly.

A good producer can get the best out of any musician. McCartney's latest album was produced by Nigel Godding (Radiohead, Beck), a guy who wasn't afraid to tell McCartney to can a song if he didn't like it. The end result is his best album in many years.
