I nursed my baby, and if anyone dared say anything uppity or "offended" to me about it, I would have told them to f*ck off and mind their own business.
If they were smart enough to realize a mother feeding her young is kind of, um, fundamental, then they never would have said anything in the first place.
Most people are too stupid.
I nursed my kids in public but did so discreetly and never once had someone tell me to knock it off. I think there are those that don't use jugdement and when people get offended they get beligerant. There is just a general lack of common sense about this topic and I think both sides of the debate need to just take a deep breath and calm down.

My, how classy of you.
Breast feeding can be done with tact and care for the feelings of others. If you whip out a breast and have your child suckle in the middle of Denny's, you deserve to have someone say something to you.
Receiving blankets over your shoulder make for a nice little tent for feeding. If someone said something to you when doing this, I would agree, but women are becoming crass about it these days.
I feel bad for the little old man saying coochie coochie to a darling baby only to have the mom whip out a breast! I saw that one day. The poor man nearly had a heart attack.
Consideration goes both ways.
Yeah, well I know a lot of guys who would say that reaching into their pants to scratch their b*lls is kind of, um, fundamental also.
Would that behavior offend you if it were done in front of you?
I nursed my baby, but I was ALWAYS discreet in public. No need to bare my breast.
It isn't unreasonable to expect a breast feeding mother to seek a private spot to do so.
