Another thing you need to know; Jack London was wrong! It's the easiest thing in the world to build a fire in the middle of the wilderness, unless you're from the city, where fire is unknown. Then you'll need the help of someone who has lived among the trees. A good fire also makes the wind die down, and if you're hungry, a rabbit will be attracted to the warmth.

Has anyone told Survivor that? :)

"I always look like that when I wake up, too - gosh, I thought everybody did."

They do! If they are married to a poet.

To Day

Darkness, made the more profound,
By silence, whose husbanded sound,
Has stretched the firmament of stilled air,
Until it almost seems about to tear...

Then worn and tattered threadbare night,
Whose shivering stars have tithed their meager light,
Surrenders to a youthful sun to rouse up all the dew,
As elder brethren go to sleep, all blanketed in blue.

The steaming rocks and hillside pearls are rising,
On slanting golden treads, while songbirds in surprising,
Cheerfulness, unclench their frozen toes,
Before the sunny fireplace that rose.

And I my mind and plans for day compose,
When to my sight an amber-petalled rose,
Has caused all time to stand still in its place,
Until I have completed worship of your face.

My observances:

1) There is no such thing as "bed-hair" in Hollywood movies. Everyone wakes up with a perfect hairdo, no drool, no groggy eyes, no stumbling/being off-balance. Bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, the whole lot of 'em, no matter what time of night they are awoken! Amazing!

2) When being chased, the chasee must always turn several times to see how close the chaser is to them, as opposed to just running in a straight line as fast as he/she can.

3) When being chased at home, the chasee will always run UPstairs, instead of out the first floor door/window.

4) You can blow up a car by shooting a single bullet through it's gas tank. (De-bunked on Mythbusters).

5) The Hero can drive any sort of vehicle known to man with no lessons needed; be it a tank, plane, motorcycle, jeep, or helicopter.

6) All vehicles will have ample amounts of gas in the tank, until the vehicle turns down a dark country road.

7) Hesitating car engines can be started easier by whacking the dashboard and shouting, "Come on, you! START!"

8) Same theory applies to phones when calling someone. Saying "Come on, come on, PICK UP THE PHONE!", when it's ringing, as if the person can hear you.

This is FUN!

This is FUN!

Well, you sure *done good* with your observances! Those are all great, and every night at the movies or on TV, we're going to see at least one or two of them!

Don't stop now - bet you could find some pics for some. :)

Also, when being chased down a road by a car, our hero/heroin, on foot, always runs in a straight line. Leaving the road would violate the rules.

Of course - we must remain easy to chase, after all. :)

I love this...LOL, only in the movies!

Am on vacation, rain all week here in NY...so I am sprucing up the inside, painting, etc.

The pic of the dog laying on the pillow reminded me of my own spoiled pup

Oh Billie what a marvelous thread & layout.. and I KNOW Those GIFS were a LOT of work.. I really like the rough edged side borders & colors (wont even tell you what I see because I recognize the curdoroy looking border that is miscolored on my computer) are great.

All, in fact, is so nice I almost overlooked the outstanding pledge.

I had seen this list before (movie fan that I am, Folks always make sure I get movie, dog & cats humor) but how much nicer set off with your excellent graphics.

Thanks for the great presentation Billie. Your threads are always such a joy to open. (and NOW THEY OPEN FAST!)

Will try to think of some good lines (I guess if any of the regulars should be able to, it would be me) - who is going to two movies & dinner tonight w/friend.. but lots going on here some good & some not, so I am a bit covered up for now.

Lots of good suggestions from others & how nice to see the newcomers visit & add some good ideas.

You rock Sistah!!!!

Hi, Colleen - hope you enjoy your vacation, getting some sprucing up done inside. I cleaned and threw out all kinds of stuff in the last two weeks - from two closets, my office, our garage. :)

Hi, Princess Lucy - you sure look sweet sleeping on that pillow. Hope there's no pea under it - wouldn't want you all bruised. :)

GREAT thread, Miss Billie. Fine looking and funny ... I had to laugh at more than one those movie gimmicks.

"A man will show no pain while taking the most ferocious beating, but will wince when a woman tries to clean his wounds."

Well, that happens in real life, too ... for a very good good reason ... )

Did you, too, ever wonder about these?

=====================================================

How Harrison Ford could be up to his eyebrows in venemous snakes
and not get 'rattled?!'

How Tarzan swung on countless jungle vines and they always
were strong and sturdy - never breaking with his weight -
and never dropped Jane?

How one could be draped over and tied to railroad tracks and inevitably be rescued?!

=====================================================

Only in the movies..:))

Thanks, Dolly! *You* would know how much work - but FUN work - it is to edit photos. Some of these didn't require much more than cropping and adding that 'film'/frame, but the two animations (the doggie/turn-out-the-lights and the twin babies) did seem almost a necessity to tell those particular *stories*. :)

Actually, this corduroy border is a different color than the brown one used before that you saw as charcoal grey. This one is dark navy - is that what you see? The parchment is kind of sandy colored, and one gradient is a rust/coppery gold; the other is a navy gradient. Bordering the parchment center is a sort of washed-denim color. The film frames are brown, but have more of a reddish tint than the brown used on that other corduroy looking border. Curious to know if that's more or less what you're seeing. :)

All, in fact, is so nice I almost overlooked the outstanding pledge.

I'm SO glad you have a fast computer and fast connection now! My connection is still not that great, but at least it's so much faster than before because it's just a bigger machine!

Know that YOU will think of many tired-but-true movie scenarios to add!

The hero can take a slew of bullets and survive and fight on, and the bad guy gets hit once and he's a goner.

To illustrate your point:

Mosul, Iraq, December 2004

But, if you have some ammo left, why not use it -- just to be sure, that is?

Thank you for adding my son to the prayer list. His unit is in training right now; they leave in about three weeks.
The movie discussion is appropriate - he tells me one of the best things we can send to him for the soldiers in his unit to share is DVD's - apparently the little DVD players are pretty common, & they love the movies.
