"So give 'em a clue. It might change their lives."
I have with the guy who's my assistant here at work. He's a college guy, 22 years old and was reading that moronic Motorcycle's Diary and telling me how great Che is. I laid into him and told him the truth about Che, having once read a balanced biography of the scumbag at one point. He was just totally dumbfounded. I told him to stop bringing commie nonsense to work or I'd free him up to go "organize the masses" full time.

As my ex-Cuban husband, who escaped Castro's Cuba in the beginning, and now sees Americans wearing Che's tee shirt, said to me "Why are they doing that. Don't they realize who he was". And I reply, "No, they don't - they are simply ignorant of who he was." And that's the great pity. My husband and I live in a rural area in N.Y. State and during the Elian fiasco, knowing my husband is a former Cuban, they asked him why Elian should not go back to Cuba to be with his father. My husband answered, "My father told me to get out of Cuba while I could, where I could be in a FREE country - America." He never saw his parents again and to me, his kind will carry America because they know Communism and ignorance of it is very, very dangerous.

My 14 year old nephew showed up the other day wearing a che t-shirt. I asked him in a nice way (because he is a nice kid, just clueless in this case) if he knew who the guy on his shirt was. He said "Kind of..." but he didn't even know how to pronounce his name. So I explained that he was Fidel's hit man and executioner, and how he was the one to do the dirty work with blood on his hands, etc. and how he had killed men, women and children in cold blood.
He was completely unimpressed. The shirt was, in his opinion, too cool not to wear. **Sigh.**

Well put.
The danger of communism, socialism and fascism to those who don't understand it, is that they who ignorantly support it are often the first victims of it.
Many of the people around the world who supported Saddam Hussain don't seem to understand that if they lived in his world, they would be the first to be "Vaporized" as George Orwell put it.

Yep. Once, the Stalin types take over, they don't need a bunch of wimpy intellectuals telling them how they should be running things...

Once, the Stalin types take over
That comma was completely unnecessary.
