Excuse the UN-PCness of the question, but has anyone here married, what in the old days, was considered a retard? Yes, we all make up our minds according to a set of beliefs. I met my wife in college....she got there at 15,out at 19, I married her at 20....Eugenics? Maybe so, but after 45 years we are happy still...3 kids--all really smart--won't go into Phds etc... but yeh..eugenics!

In the old days any one who was thought of as not quite right was labeled as retarded. The landmark Carrie Buck case was based on eye witness and anecdotal testimony. Carrie Bucks mother was considered loose .Carrie Buck was raped by her Foster family . She was considered a second generation half wit. Carrie Bucks six month old daughter (She was raped by her foster father )was considered not quite right. Oliver Wendell Holmes had ,Carrie Buck, a poor rape victim sterilized. Carrie Bucks daughter graduated from high school with honors. It is possible some of the people labeled as retarded in the old days were not retarded at all. Eugenics is beneath contempt.

Your wife was on this thread earlier and said that she had--but despite your low intelligence you both were very happy. Just kidding ; )
