It's a shame the article leaves out the role Protestant Christians had in promoting eugenics in the United States. Here's an article that remedies the deficiency.

We need to start referring to Planned Parenthood as "The Margaret Sanger Community Eugenics Centers."

"Galton defined eugenics as "the science of improvement of the human race germ plasm through better breeding."

Do you suppose they factored in the omission of all the strong, intelligent, healthy men that died in the wars?

How can you improve anything if you don't have the very best quality to start with? Survival of the fittest does NOT apply to humans.

Exactly. One also must remember that many geniuses have a screw loose someplace :)

One idea advanced in the journal is the belief that anthropology, if it is understood honestly, shows that mankind is divided into four species.

You (or they) mean races, not species. I don't care what anyone says, there are not currently four human species.

The number of races is still being debated, with numbers ranging from one to 60 or more, if you consider micro-races. I have never heard an anthropologist argue for four species. Can you provide a reference?

Ah, so mainstream Protestants are liberal heretics. problem is, while the mainstream Protestant churches were promoting eugenics, many of the evangelicals, and the Mormons, were promoting anti-miscegenation laws, with similar sinister intent to mould the human genome according to religious precepts.

Only the Catholics seem to have clean hands in this instance.

Doesn't change the fact that some, not a majority, religious leaders supported eugenincs. Still it would be fair to label them as "religious leaders" or "liberal heretics", since they would be both.

I'm hoping for one, as I can't find anything remotely like a source for belief in "four current human species" on google. I think someone's research may be faulty, but not sure yet whose research.

"Eugenics is the study of methods to improve the human race by controlling reproduction."

As opposed to the study of people named Eugene. :)

Thanks Prof! It's almost scary how correct the Church was in this instance . . . almost as if it had some sort of divine guidance; )

When I was younger I never understood the Church's opposition to birth control. Now, I believe Paul VI was truly divinely inspired.

Each sect of the religion gets its turn in the sun and its blackest night too.

Have you ever wondered why the word "genius" always seems to apply to those people who can only perform certain basic functions? A physicist we knew could only drive to and from work...a detour would get her lost.

Most human evolution occurs during war, not from natural selection. War is actually a very high speed version of natural selection. Improvements in genetics or culture that take thousands of years to select for naturally are decided in a few years of war. It's why humans are the most genetically advanced animal to ever walk the face of Earth, despite the late start.

In war the side with the best overall genetics and culture usually wins. It's not necessary that the best men survive the war, only that the culture and gene pool that produced them survives.

Survival of the fittest does NOT apply to humans.

Well that's good to know.

It will be interesting to see how the country now known as "France" turns out after it becomes Islamic. As well as the US, which will become hispanic (not because too many came across the borders, but merely because they're the community having the kids).
