Explosive devices found on the GA Tech campus.
Let me know if anything comes of this, would you?
After OU, I don't trust the story...I too hate these funny little coincidences. Why that apartment? Why the SWAT team? Witnesses?
"Wasn't there also some health club that these individuals went to near or in Atlanta?"
I'm sorry, I don't know.
needs to be a stand-alone thread in BREAKING NEWS!

Depends on the campus. I went to a private college, where the campus cops were just county cops in different uniform -- some of them 20-year veterans who treated campus work as a semi-retirment, because it pays better and is less dangerous.
Yup, a few times. Heh. But not much anymore. Gittin old. 76 today, and starting to feel it.
I appreciate all the work you've been doing on the OU thing. High Fives to you and the regulars who aren't letting this thing slip through the floorboards.
Best -- Dave
No....! Is this true? Why? Why? Were you persecuted by your peers?
Unfortunately true. In fact, in that post I failed to include carrots, which she also put in the dish. It was all chopped very finely, so nobody really knew what they were eating......but I knew.
Lutefisk sounds dreadful -- but that's a Norwegian Lutheran. I prefer the beer-and-brat German Lutherans!
From your tagline, I wonder... ever tried haggis?
Bite your tongue! I hooked my fellow Emoroid and have never looked back!
You speak truly. Now I'm really hungry. Opa!
I'm glad that worked out for you, but I needed a change of pace from Emory to keep me alive. I loved it for the education, but I needed a different place to socialize. To each his own, I guess!
Lawrenceville is about 35 miles NE of Atlanta. It is the seat of Gwinnett County. As far as the GaTech thing goes, it was simply a harmless prank by a fellow student. I kinda feel sorry for the guy. He turned himself in.
It really wasn't a big deal here. When I saw the TV news crews, I was hoping it has something to do with Chan Gailey getting fired, but alas, no such luck.
From what I've heard on campus, the 'explosive device' was simply a plastic bottle with dry ice placed inside. Seal the cap, the dry ice evaporates causing great vapor pressure, and the bottle explodes. It would be similar to placing vinegar and baking soda inside, but less pressure.
Also a dispersion system/ignition system was found in the janitors closet disguised as a vacuum cleaner with the hose attached to the "blow" side. sarcasm off
"water bottle with fireworks attached"
Uh, Yeah, this is newsworthy- NOT!
LOL!
I thought it was when a Methodist invaded a Lutheran fellowship hall and drank all the coffee.
That was an isolated incident by an angry, disturbed Methodist acting alone. At this time, we find no evidence that this was terrorist connected.
However, it was cause for riot. Afterwards they all sat down for a potluck.
These explosives were not to be used in a terrorist attack, but were to be exploded under Grant Field as a protest to the poor performance of the Yellow Jackets.
