I find it odd that Fund lays out a litany of Republican appointments that ended up not being as conservative as they promised, naming virtually every one of the, and uses this to suggest Meirs nomination should be withdrawn.
But he seems to gloss over fact that Bush would simply have to appoint someone else.
After relating a wealth of gossip he concludes with this nugget:
"With such high stakes, it should disappoint everyone that the Senate will now have to debate the confirmation of a nominee who, when it comes to Constitutional law, resembles a secret agent more than a scholar."
I think he provides a sort of one sided Cliff notes version of the debate but adds no new information. I suspect he should take his own advice and wait till the hearings.

I find that all of these pundits are calling for conservative credentials and a paper trail just like Souter, Kennedy, and OConnor had. Oh, wait a minute ........
