What I am telling you is that Miers is indeed all you can get. And if there is another opening, you are going to get another Miers, and another one after that, because you will probably have the very same Senate or worse. Will the GOP complain about this abomination? You are asserting that the President is compromising on nominations, because he has to get a 60 vote supermajority.
Miers migh be great - this isn't about her. This is about whether or not the GOP will fight for principle. Your screed aims to justify not fighting for principle.
I wanted a fight myself. Then I found out what I shared, and realized that when you cant win, a fight is silly. We cant win with this Senate. We can only stand-pat at best.
