And why are we making it more difficult for Bush, anyway? We should be criticizing the RINOS and giving them the hot seat . . .

And the Yankees won 3 – 2. Woohoo!!!

:)

It's amazing they were able to get two games in these past few days. What a deluge.

I give up. You either have no position or you hide it, and you blame your politicians for being no worse than you. I do blame you for Snowe.

Hey, don't blame me, I'm just an innocent bystander in all of this.

yes, skeletons. I heard that one of them drove a car into water and left the passenger there to drown. Oh, sorry, that's not one of the possible nominees, that's a member of the committee who would sit in judgment on the nominee.

Oh, you mean Trent Lott, the Republican Senator who voted for Clinton's Ruth Bader Ginsburg appointment but "has questions" about Buch's Harriet Miers choice.

LOL Guess he forgot about that. Either that or he is still mad because they got all those trailers delivered in Mississippi but there were no keys with them.

What a great game. Now both teams have to fly out to California and play again tomorrow night!

Oh, PD's post was excellent and informative, to be sure. But FB's question is valid - not just to be directed at PD, but at any number of 'formerly-opused-out' FReepers that have been popping up.

BTW, love the screen name. We're studying that very book right now in Sunday School (it's taken us months to get up to Chapter 11).

I don't care who you claim to have talked to, because I've learned over the years that the wisdom, insight and forward thinking of people marginally "on the inside" is questionable. I know people who've worked on judicial confirmations I can tell you that they haven't impressed me with either their knowledge of the subject matter or their courage. They all seem to be running scared most of the time.

I frankly don't know whether your *sources* are of the same disappointing ilk or whether your *sources* are in your head. It doesn't matter.

I also disagree with most of your reasons for supporting Miers now. The biggest one is that she is gonna be a huge threat to the abortion industry, much more than Roberts appeared to be when he was nominated. So the whole getting Specter on board because she's not pro-life implication is absurd. SEE ISSUE 2 - [Arlen Specter . . . has made it clear to the White House that he is determined to protect his legacy, by NOT supporting any name among those who might make it possible to overturn Rowe V. Wade.] That's a false implication that Miers won't make overturning the left's pillar of judicial activist accomplishment possible. And it's not Rowe, it's Roe.

I'll acknowledge that I was hot about this nomination when I first heard it, but have since come to realize that Miers is a good pick and that the President deserves to be trusted.

In sum, I don't know why you have chosen to run away, and I disagree with your reasons for supporting Miers, but I'm glad we agree that she ought to be confirmed.

Ummm ... you aren't comprehending my writing, or you are seeking my position on a question not asked. Click on my name, then "In Forum" You will find my positions.

you blame your politicians for being no worse than you.

I criticize them for their policies. My criticism stands and falls on its own merit.

I do blame you for Snowe.

Not unreasonable. But you either got Snowe or Pingree.

Look at this way... they're still in the game.

We'll see what happens tomorrow - I predict they'll win.

Wanna bet?

Common Tator can explain the birth of a new Majority Party, the infights, and eventual discipline from those fights better than I can. Specifically, how the Democrats managed to develop strong party discipline as a result of their former battles when they became the Majority.

Well the Dems got rid of a lot of their division in the Senate when those good ol Southern blue-dog conservatives changed to the Republican Party. Led eventually to our increases in the houses. TX was pure Democrat not too far back.

Yes. These unnamed sources of PD's seem to be implying that the president and his nominee will step sideways and out of the way of Specter and his abortionist pals.

His unnamed souces impy a complete surrender.

It's big news -- poor sources.

My guess is that you have determined that wearing tinfoil makes more sense than facing facts by asserting that your insider contacts have advised you that the DNC was set to launch personal attacks on sitting judges. Score so far? You: ridiculous. Facts: Far right wing conservative judges are not passive any more than far left wing judges. Result: No sense going personal; just Bork them.

It is Roe v. Wade by the way, and the right to privacy will never be overturned with or without the help of Arlen Specter, so take it off your lunatic litmus test.

The fact is that President Bush appointed someone he knows and trusts and his paranoia having increased exponentially with all the bad advise he is getting from his 'brainless trust' aside, he went for the least difficult decision and of course he has that right. The Senate can also tell him he should have picked better. It won't.

The screaming from the ultra right is just absurd, so take the same advise you gave 'flashbunny' and just shut up and stop making such a pompous ass of yourself .

Ah, yes; when you finally deflate your ego down to sub testosterone/steroidal wretched excess levels, drop the cutesy French in your tag line. Nothing sillier than a motto in French saying 'without fear or shame'; other than that have a nice day and take a deep breath.
