"Yes, the Swifty's had a big impact."

OK, sorry if I overreacted, which I'm not sure I did. Two facts you need to know: 1. The SBVfT were NOT, by ANY stretch of the millions, the only group which successfully took Kerry down. Many others worked tirelessly for over thirty years to take the blood soaked bastard down, though to be fair, one did end up as a member and spokesman for the SBVfT...which is his right, as a Swift Boat vet who served with Hanoi John Boy. 2: Ohio wasn't a key state. Political hype aside, GW would have won Ohio regardless because the Ohio Mainstrean disliked Kerry. This included a lot of the Rainbow Push crowd, who were simply offended by Kerry looking down his nose at them during the debates. I mean....Kerry DISMISSING the entire audience as not capable of earning $100,000 a year?? EVER??

'04 was NOT a Rove win. It was a BUSH win. Bush won on his own merits and Kerry screwed it for himself...with the help of the OTHER geriatric hippies in the Democrat party.

Now I am definitely going to bed before I wind up staying up until 3:00AM when I have to get up at 5:00AM

Have a good night. It's been fun exchanging opinions with you.

Weasley Clark probably had a better chance of getting more support than John F'n Kerry for the Democrat nomination. Three things killed it, hollering like a scared rabbitt for his secretary that first day, Agreeing to be on the cover of that Gay Magazine, and having Madonna and other really stuck on Stupid Celebrities go all out for him. The boy was tone deaf then, and is still tone deaf.

I believe they want this Senate. And it's likely they could. I mean Reagan got Scalia through with a Democratic controlled Senate and despite the rough and tumble Thomas confirmation, he still made it through a democratically controlled congress.

I remember listening to the Thomas hearing on NPR (they carried it live) while going to lunch. I was in the parking lot of the little joint I was going to listening to Anita Hill. When she told of the pubic hair incident and the off color jokes, I her whole testimony was a sham. How lame. Still Thomas had a tough row to hoe, but he was still confirmed by an opposition congress.

Look, I am frankly scared to death of the social conservatives. That's why I questioned why Richard Land was in DC. He was there likely to get something in exchange for his support for something.

While most will never say they want a theocracy, I have many conservative christian friends who wouldn't mind see a theocracy in place, or at least they believe that's what they want. They will even go as far as to say that's what they want, but they know they can't say it in public.

I have a freind who is the producer of a Christian talk show at a Christian radio station. They discuss how far they can push the idea of a theocracy without saying the word. They craft how to say it without saying it. The host is considered mainstream, Southern Baptist out of the Richard Land mold.

I recently read an article in a paper where Rod Parsley is trying to stoke up the fires of social conservatives. From that article......Wiping away sweat, Parsley says that a similar ''great awakening'' is about to cover the land. The sermon that follows on this recent morning is tinged with politics. Parsley tells worshippers that Americans must be ''Christocrats,'' becoming citizens of both their country and God's kingdom. ''And that is not a democracy; that is a theocracy,'' he says of the divine world. ''That means God is in control, and you are not.''

This guy isn't some rogue preacher. "From the platform of World Harvest, a nondenominational congregation with a regular weekly attendance of nearly 10,000, the 48-year-old televangelist and author has dived into politics, leading a charge against gay marriage, abortion, stem-cell research, secular humanism and, at times, other Christian churches. Shouts of approval ring out from the ethnically diverse worshippers nearly filling the 5,200-seat sanctuary, and Parsley doesn't take long to hit his stride."

Thank you , thank you...finally someone knows!!

I just turned to his show in time for him to bring his brother and all of his gang on the set to say thanks...

But, I STILL didn't hear what was going on....and I knew he hadn't been fired...they don't let you come back and say good-bye...see: Rita Cosby.

Dang...Fox is gonna have to redo their whole weekend evening now that Rita and Geraldo are gone...plus CNN and MSNBC have pretty much ceded the night to them..they don't even have live programming, do they?

Yes, I agree he (Quayle) was a nice man. I got the book at a book signing. I thought it would be a good set the record straight book. After reading it, I tended to agree more with his critics than with Quayle.

I seem to remember the announcement differently. I was a Bush supporter back when his candidacy was just incubating. There was a time how I wondered how he and Quayle would position themselves during a primary battle. So when Quayle went on Kings show to say he was no longer considering a run because he just found out GWB was running (and frankly GWB was already siphoning the $$$) it sealed he was out of touch.

YEAH. Right. The same people who cannot any support for a Gay Marriage Constitutional Amendment or get to win even a single Court case are some how going to get a THEOCRACY? You fear the wrong side my friend. The biggest threats to personal Freedoms ALL come from the Left side of the political spectrum's these days. Hate Speech codes, "the Fairness Doctrine" CPR, Affirmative action. Govt regs on everything from refining to health care. The crypto Fascists are NOT on our side. But I guess since the Left DOES favor a socially libertine SEXUAL politics some people don't mind sacrificing all their OTHER Liberties

Simply cannot take the madness any more. Afraid of the Social Conservatives. That is just too much. .

MADE for a Republican PR battle. Concrete proof the Dems really are NOT serious about Terrorism. So what do we get? Abject surrender on the part of the Senate.

This is all you get from a Senate these days. The majority of Republican Senators are afraid of losing their jobs. The MSM is still powerful enough to sink many of their campaigns, if given half the chance. At least, many of them still believe this to be true. As such, many of them are afraid to be put on the record in a manner that they have trouble defending in the MSM's version of the public arena (which is often skewed, such as in the 2004 elections where many MSM political panels had 2 liberals, 1 liberal moderate , and liberally/moderate conservative).

I don't think this should be public. Because frankly, if anyone nominated is not truly of the calibre of Assoicate Justice, a Senator should not announce unqualified support or announce dead on arrival before a fair hearing. But the President and his people know how to count votes. I honestly believe the RINO7 excuse is simply that, a scape goat rather than the real reason for not offering up the Owen's, Luttig's etal. Again, Thomas and Scalia went before less friendly Senates and made it.

Again, I'm not advocating and Owens or Luttig. I think Miers will probably be ok. I'm just pointing out what I believe to be facade from some of the players.

The devil is in the extremes. Extreme left and extreme right. I fear the same leftist ideas that you do, sans CFR. I still haven't figured out how $$ has any speech rights.

You don't believe that many social conservatives want a theocracy? Again, I posted the words of the big box church preacher. Seems he said as much. People need to become Christocrats and thats not a democracy but a theocracy.

If the founders wanted the bible to be the law of the land, then why spend all that time on a Constitution. Why not say this is our Constitution, the King James version of the bible. All our freedoms are contained in there. All our laws are contained in there. All our social values are contained in there.

They didn't. They took great pains to craft a document that says nothing about Jesus Christ, the ten commandments and many other things that we as Christians need to embrace, live under, expose to others (not impose) and how to invite Christ into our lives in order to worship Him and His Father. The Bible is a Christian document and historical guide for Christian living. The Constitution is a secular document for governance.

Here we are at that magic time again where we honor those posters on the t.v. talk show thread for their excellence in posting.

Today's thread was dominated by the discussion of President Bush's candidate for the Supreme Court Harriet Miers. Both sides were represented and it would be hard to try and think of an argument still left to be made as to whether or not MS. Miers should or should not be nominated.
