It's irreverence. As an irreverant persona, I enjoy most of her work. I thought her anti-Miers piece stunk. Stunk bad.
Why then, did he put her on the federal bench?
Karuthammer liberal???? I dont think so! H'es brilliant, suually. It's dismaying that he would take such a public stance against Pres Bush's decision. Which I feel in my heart is a decision made by a President who is acting in a disturbing way.

The hemorrhage of illegal immigration swamping our nation continues unabated during your watch. The democrats in the Senate do not deserve your unfailing civility. Islam is not "a religion of peace". And Scalia should have been the Chief Justice.

I suspect if the Pope critisized this selection he'd be called the anti-Christ, or lesser degree, discriminatory to evangelicals.

Don't bet on it. Neither party is going to nominate a Supreme Court Justice that realizes the Constitution's intent was to set limitations for the most part on the federal government alone. Get Brown, Thomas, and three other Justices to agree with them (however wrong the basis for the other three Justices arguments may be) and the national government, along with its power, could be shrunk overnight. No politician is going to set the stage to give away his or her power

Any decision she makes is up for review by SCOTUS. One can say they believe in limiting government, but makes sure the reviewers are not as Constitutionally minded as she is. Some of her decisions will be overturned by SCOTUS, some may not. But with her on SCOTUS any decision she is involved in, if she is in the majority would not be overturned.
Read the opinions of Justice Scalia, a scholar if there ever was one, and you'll change your opinion. There are great people who went to elite schools and complete dopes who went to less elite schools. That isn't the issue. My hope for this nomination had been another Scalia. I don't care where a nominee went to school. I want a nominee whose respect for following the Constitution is well-established.

She's too strident for me, I see the need to rah-rah the conservative troops which her personality does in many quarters and I'm grateful if she is reaching Bill Maher viewers when she appears on his show.
Although I liked and appreciated the McCarthy parts of her book "Treason", I find her writing to be droning.
I am not elitist, I just do not understand how it is considered a bad thing to be excellent.
Why do we help our kids with their homework, save money for their education and support them in their endeavors if it is not out of a sense of wanting them to be the very best they can be?
Now people are saying the very best are somehow undesirable?? Time to do away with scholarships, awards, The Super Bowl etc...
