Another example of Religious Extremism in the United States:

Fred Phelps and the Westboro Baptist Church of Topeka, Kansas. The extent of Phelps fanaticism includes demonstrations cheering the deaths of American Miltary Personnel. Those demonstrations are being held at the funerals, a direct attack on the surviving families.

I think most Christians would say Phelps is just a nut. It isn't like he has a big following. We only know of him because of his extremism. He drags his family along with him but usually there are only a very few people with him. He's certainly not an example of mainstream Christianity.

Do you have any idea of the size of Fred Phelps' church? It might contain all of 20, and all are members of his family...all are lawyers to boot.

I wonder what gospel is taught at Westboro Baptist Church?
Is it the Gospel of Jesus Christ?
Or is it the gospel of D.U., Nazism, and other blends?
Hmmmmm. Hmmmmm.

Fred Phelps and the Westboro Baptist Church of Topeka, Kansas.

With all your evidence of religious extremists so far, I think you are up to about 8 or 9 people. That is one convincing pile of evidence.

I think the larger threat is from those who hate the Bible and agree with the moral left and the democrat party (they should really be called the "Bible-rejecing Socialist Party run by the ACLU").

That mob of leftists lie about our Constitution, they call for the death of our own leaders, especially those who stand against immorality, and do their best to intimidate and destroy anyone who speaks out against their dogma.

You bring up Pat Robertson as if he might be some extreme internal threat, that is a joke. Robertson should have used better discretion, (although Hugo Chavez is an anti-American thug) but this can hardly to be compared to the vile speech of the leftists in America.

The failure to make this connection only shows how ignorant, blind, and far-left that Rushdie really is; and so is anyone who thought he wasn't just full of hot gas when he tried to equate evangelical Christians with Muslim murderers.
