France is changing the NASCAR. I don't know if it is for the best though. Many of his decisions (and some of his father's before him) are turning away the ones that have supported the sport from the beginning.
This is just one more. But he has expanded the fan base. We now have NASCAR races from sea to shining sea and border to past the border. NASCAR now HAS "playoffs". NASCAR has bigger salaries, bigger pay outs and more and better sponsors.
But NASCAR also has boring races. Like the stick and ball sports, it has turned into a rich mans club. Four teams dominate the sport, bypassing the rules that only allows an owner to field a two car team. It is becoming more and more like the IRL or CHAMP car series. Only difference being the cars are bigger and enclosed.
Maybe someone out there will start a series for STOCK CARS. They could run them at the tracks NASCAR decided were just too small or not good enough for them.

I agree. Bring back STOCK CARS. Stock bodies with the interiors ripped out and roll bars added. Dink with the computers and exhaust only and minor suspension mods. GM could run the V8 Caddy, Mopar could run the HEMI Charger, and Ford would have to build a real car. Make it a constructors race, and get some no names to drive profiling the technology more than the soap opera crap. Win on Sunday, sell on Monday.
